TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The backlash against Arizona's tough new crackdown on illegal immigration is now beginning to affect enrollment at the University of Arizona. In a campus-wide e-mail sent out Thursday morning, university president Robert Shelton states, "The families of a number of out-of-state students (to date all of them honors students) have told us that they are changing their plans and will be sending their children to universities in other states."
Shelton goes on to express concern about the impact of SB 1070. He said the decision of students to withdraw "should sadden anyone who cares about attracting the best and brightest students to Arizona."

But at the same time, Shelton indicated the University does not plan to defy the law. He writes, "UAPD, which is one of the finest police operations anywhere, will be receiving extensive training on the specifications of the new law. I have total confidence that they will abide by the letter of the law, which includes a provision that individuals may not be stopped solely on the basis of race, color or national origin."

This reminds me of the Musical “Cabaret”.
Where Joel Grey says about the women of the Cabaret..
“Each and every one a virgin! You don’t believe me? Go ahead, ask her.” as he smacks a tart on the butt.
“Great news!”
“How can we do this in Michigan, the liberal moochers and looters are killing us here.”
Michigan is beautiful up there but good lord are there a lot of political dummies up there. I feel for you.
It's a Two-fer - a Buy1Get1 Free even.....
Do you think the teachers will leave too?
As far as I’m concerned leave her there and maybe MS-13 will find her.
And no doubt these out of state liberals are getting in state tuition.
Bye bye.

Outstanding! Bow they have room for AMERICAN kids that belong there.

Outstanding! Now they have room for AMERICAN kids that belong there.
Self-deportation!
I like the concept! Can we get some of that here in California?
So they can cut the budget on the backs of the university. Sounds like a win.
I kinda like the idea of “Liberal Student Chain Self-Deportation”. They can take as many of their ignorant, arrogant, and naive friends along with them.
I have never seen such unmitigated BullSh@t in my entire life.....a couple students might be leaving.......or not. Spin away MSM.
These students who wish to protest by leaving will be replaced by students who want to learn.
Why are they illegal?
adios muchachos

Unfortunately, it’s no longer about play dates and Dora the Explorer.
RE: “Someone should send this guy a FOIA request for the names and copies of the letters/e-mails he is referring to.
He is probably just making this up.”

AGREE! Let’s see some proof - not that easy to get into a college these days; they’re just gonna run away on a whim like this? I call BS as well — another idiot from academia pushing his own agenda.

Zero is a number. So is five.
Why don’t you tell us a number, Mr. Shelton?
Not necessarily. There are those parents who care about their child’s safety. The crime stat drop would be very encouraging.
