Axelrod: Charlie Crist Was Run Out of the Republican Party Florida Governor Will Run for U.S. Senate as an Independent, Obama Advisor Sees GOP Shift to Right By HUMA KHAN and KRISTINA WONG
WASHINGTON, April 30, 2010
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist's decision to drop out of the Republican Party and run as an independent shows that the GOP is increasingly moving further to the right and blocking out those who don't fit in that mold, White House senior adviser David Axelrod said today.
"I think it's interesting. Crist was three years ago sort of a golden boy of the Republican Party, vice presidential possibility," Axelrod told "Good Morning America's" George Stephanopoulos today. "They recruited him for this Senate race and now he's been run out of the party. It really speaks to the way the party is moving to the right."
Crist announced Thursday that he is dropping out of the Florida Republican Senate primary race to run as an independent.
"My decision to run for the United States Senate as a candidate without party affiliation in many ways says more about our nation and our state, than it does about me," Crist said.

He says that like there’s something wrong about doing that...
All motion is relative -- maybe it's you guys who moved way far to the left.
Yeah, for being a democRAT.
I’m sure he’ll feel right at home with the ‘rats................
Axelrod gets it right ... for the first time in his life.
Yep, Republicans don’t like liars, how about Democrats? Oh wait, they pedal lies ...
Calling Charlie Crist, party of one ... me me me me me
If there was anyone who represents what is wrong with lying politicians, it’s sun tan in a bottle Crist.
Uh, yeah, and not a moment too soon!
Damn straight! And you can have have him Davie!
Yeah Davey, sorta like your guy was a “golden boy” from 2004 - 2009. Now take a look at him.
*Sniffle*
Bull crap!
he left the party....
he chose to leave...
why?
because someone applied for the same job he wanted, and that someone will do a better job in the eyes of Republican voters....
Alren Christi would still be in the Republican Party if he acted like a Republican, and even that is no guarantee...if a better candidate comes to the plate, it is our right to hire them.....
Axman is staying on message: GOP is crazy evil nazi right wing nuts.
Hey Axelrod! We wrapped him in tanning lotion and are giving him to you as a gift! Enjoy your baby RINO...
God help us if Crist wins and the GOP need him to make a majority in the Senate.
Being considered for VP by who?
Juan McCain?
How the heck does that make him the “golden boy” of the Republican Party?
“They recruited him for this Senate race and now he's been run out of the party.”
The grassroots and the masses have spoken. It's called a “democracy”. Voters(according to the polls), don't want this unprincipled clown representing them in the US senate. Axelrod could have done with some lessons on listening to the wishes of voters and doing what voters demand, like in not ramming through the hated 0bamcare bill.
That seems to be the spin of the day...even Chris Wallace told the Friends that it would be interesting to see the consequences of the GOP going too right in Florida, NJ and VA.
