Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) gets all the attention for backing underdogs, but Mike Huckabee is getting in on the action too.
DeMint will get plenty of play tonight good or bad for endorsing Marlin Stutzman in todays Indiana GOP Senate primary. But Huckabee has also endorsed the conservative state senator over the establishment favorite, former U.S. Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.). And, in fact, Huckabee has endorsed many of the same candidates DeMint has thus far, albeit after DeMint set the standard.
DeMint backed Marco Rubio mid-June 2009, but Huckabee was also one of the first national political figures on board. He endorsed Rubio a week later.
DeMint endorsed Chuck DeVore in the California Senate race in November and Stutzman two weeks ago. Huckabee followed by endorsing both men last week.

I’ll only respect the guy in the political sense if he gets out altogether.
He doesn’t know what the term “conservative” means. He’s jumping on a bandwagon to be considered hip.
He was never conservative his whole time in office. Why start now unless for attention?
Huck is a freaking idiot.
If he’s got money to burn, Id’ rather have him burn it for conservatives like DeVore!
He sees Demint getting recognition and kudos so he wants to get some.
He’s a frigging spineless, gutless asshat.
And he's like that in a sneaky, aw-shucks type way.
That's what really pisses me off about him.
Good news.
I won’t. He’s still a RINO Christian Socialist. Who he endorses doesn’t change that.
I just saw a report on Fox that RINO Dan Coats won the primary in Indiana.
As long as Huckabee does NOT try to run for office, fine and well.
He’s a RINO, he’s a publicity hound and he’s just pretending for the cameras.
Who knows. Maybe he’s discovered he like conservatism. And his flip flops are certainly not as egregious or numerous as Mitt’s. But I’m hoping against hope that NEITHER pollutes the 2012 race.
bummer
His squishy platitudes about Obama are enough to make me sick. He’s almost as bad as McCain when it comes to his Obama praise.
I haven’t read anything about that lately. Nor do I watch his show. All I know is if Mitt and Huck and TPaw and Newt and Perry and Santorum and Daniels and Paul want to do the country a great service, they will NOT run for president, but support conservative candidates.
Four decent Conservative candidates running in Indiana, and we get shafted with a stinking lobbyist from NC. Thanks GOP. We will remember in November. Don’t call me asking for money!
