Herriman councilman resigns after charges filed [Romney Supporter]
Salt Lake Tribune ^ | May 7, 2010 | Katie Drake

Posted on 05/07/2010 10:02:54 AM PDT by Colofornian

Herriman councilman Milton "Mick" Shannon, co-founder of the Children's Miracle Network charity, resigned Thursday after being charged with felony criminal mischief.

Shannon was been charged in 3rd District Court in West Jordan with criminal mischief, a second-degree felony, for intentionally destroying property on Feb. 10. Court documents say Shannon slashed tires and scratched the body of a vehicle belonging to a man he believed was having an affair with his ex-wife.

Shannon said Thursday that the charges are an attempt to defame him, but did not say by whom. He said he is in the midst of divorce proceedings. He plans to appear in court on Friday.

Herriman city officials became aware of the charges on Wednesday, said city spokeswoman Nicole Martin.

LOL!

I just love your convoluted reasoning, Colo. It's rather like trying to navigate a maze.

It's just another excuse to post more anti-Mormon blather. The never-ending hunt for bad publicity on Mormons seems to rule your life.

Must be a hard existence.

John Schneider, who’s a born-again Christian? Is that enough to counter the Evil Osmond Family? After all, they sang that horrid, yet catchy, “One Bad Apple” song...magritte :)

Organizations are not defined by characteristics of the people who found them.

On the other hand, is John Schneider a Mormon?

“Schneider became a born-again Christian while living with Johnny and June Carter Cash for a short time and speaking with Johnny about Christianity.[1] In 1982, he co-founded, with Marie Osmond, the Children’s Miracle Network to help suffering children. In 1995, he founded FaithWorks Productions in order to produce family-oriented videos and recordings.”

“This sounds like a PERSONAL issue.”

Ya think?

I have been divorced twice and both times I felt like doing something creepy to him but I never did. Thank God!!

When my folks were getting divorced and I was in high school, my mom lost her doogies for a few years but if you hang in there and don’t do anything stupid (like this guy apparently did), you can survive divorce . . . barely.

Organizations are not defined by characteristics of the people who found them.

To a degree this is true. Organizations change. So I would alter your statement to read: "Organizations are not 100% defined by characteristics of the people who found them."

And apparently, 75% of the co-founders of the Children's Miracle Network were Lds. And the Osmonds are still closely aligned with CMN, which is based in Salt Lake City, and of course, no doubt retains many Mormon employees.

Schneider? He's moved on to other things...animal rights advocacy...a second wife...kids.

No divorce until the decree is signed. No matter how much someone considers themselves an ex. Could be a decree with ongoing skirmishing over property or some other ancillary issue. Wonder if the dockets are online.

Ya think? [SD]

OK, if this matter was merely about a personal divorce, this wouldn't be in the headlines up and down the Wasatch Range in print and on the air.

According to the article: Shannon slashed tires and scratched the body of a vehicle belonging to a man he believed was having an affair with his ex-wife.

But, hey, it's good all of your property defenders have weighed in on how tire-slashers and property vandals should be treated...as putting it aside as a "personal issue."

What's totally ironic is in today's Salt Lake Trib, there's another article headlined: SLC cops: Serial tire slashing suspect nabbed where they arrested a 43-yo suspect.

Saundra, are you going to defend this tire-slasher, too? (Maybe he was motivated by personal reasons, too, and should be excused or partially excused of his behavior, eh?)

What you don't seem to get is that Mick Shannon is not any different in the eyes of the court than this 43 yo just nabbed: They're both suspected tire slashers -- of a criminal felony level. Oh, sure, sentences will vary based upon number of incidents and the wealth of attorneys hired.

But, hey, Saundra and you other Mormons: Once you start defending one tire-slashing felon, how 'bout a "good word" for this other guy, too, for consistency purposes?

...Law enforcement officers are obliged to properly identify individuals they arrest. Unfortunately, so called "sanctuary cities" explicitly prohibit the police from doing so.

His EX wife?

Was this guy the CAUSE of wife being ex?

You have jumped the shark.

(Be sure you check into the complete background of that other tire slasher I mentioned in post #27...the one the SLC cops nabbed yesterday. Who knows, at some point in his life, he probably was the office liaison for raising MoD funds from his cubicle mates each March! And we wouldn't want the good deeds from all these felons to go unnoticed on this otherwise conservative site!)
