Podesta says Republicans are rooting for failure, hoping for successful terror attack because they hate Obama.

Read this, Podesta:

The President and the Politics of Civility

While delivering a commencement address to the University of Michigan's graduating students, President Barack Obama's comments were really meant for the nation's political class. His speech dealt with the importance of "a basic level of civility in our public debate."

"We cannot expect to solve our problems if all we do is tear each other down," Mr. Obama said. He spoke against "demonizing" political opponents or "questioning their motives or their patriotism."

It is "not the hurt feelings or the bruised egos" such rhetoric causes that's problematic, the president assured us. No, this "kind of vilification and over-the-top rhetoric" discourages "compromise . . . undermines democratic deliberation. . . robs us of a rational and serious debate." It can even "send signals" that "violence is a justifiable response." There is a need in politics, as the president said, to "treat others as you would like to be treated, with courtesy and respect."

I'm sure Obama meant this lecture to be directed at the Republicans, rather than his allies like Podesta, but they need to start practicing what they preach!

They have found that a Senate seat is a very comfortable seat indeed.

-- ["One off"] is a British term for a one-time thing. --

It's common in manufacturing, in the US. I learned and used the term in the 70's. Some items are mass produced, some are produced in small quantities, and some are literally one of a kind. Might be highly engineered one of kind, but still, it'd be a "one off," and all the costs associated with that one item have no further production to amortize costs against.

I think it's asinine to use the term in the context of criminal and terrorist acts. By that usage, Bonnie and Clyde, Valentine's Day massacre, the Bath, Michigan school bombing, Columbine, and on and on and on, are all "one offs," because none is the same as another.

Son served in bubba’s army, station overseas for four years.

He was an officer. ALL promotions were based on race and gender. Merit was not a high priority. Women were given priority over minority men.

Blaming this on GW is dishonest.

You wind up using terms like that when you don't take the WOT or even use the term seriously.

This rat adm. has done more to embolden the terrorists than any adm. since the clintonistas who refused to kill Ben Laden.

We need more politicos with guts who will tell it like it is and are unafraid.

If you want a mold just look at Sarah or FNC contributor Liz Cheney! She was awesome on FNS.

Besides, 3 terms and he wants to keep going back? He’e been there long enough.

What is it about being a Congresscritter or Senator that people want to stay there until they're rolled out on a gurney?

I'm not sure which average number is higher in the Senate: IQ or age?

Brennan says that the TS bomber was a one off because he drove the car alone.

That one brought me out of my chair. My 8 YO son used to get scared at these outbursts...now he expects a few on Sundays.

I can't believe the absurd incompetence that emanates from the Obama Administration.

“Wallace did a damned good job interrogating Brennan.”

That’s good to hear. Usually he’s way too soft on lefties.

He was challenging Brennan on every single point of ‘success’ in the terrorism realm.

Both the Pledge daily and an American Confirmation ceremony would be excellent instructional events toward an appreciation for our great country. (Aside: I was raised in the South, attended public schools, K-12, and said the Pledge every day in class at every assembly and athletic event. Until we reached high school and 'home rooms', we also had a stand up, daily Bible reading before class began, each student picking his or her own for the class, ending with the Lord's Prayer and I can assure you it only benefitted the students whatever their background).

I would add the following: To focus our children on the sacrifices made for them to be an American, every high school student must visit an American military cemetery with their class. Not a quick field trip, but an entire afternoon led by teachers and a serving military officer accompanied by a local VFW representative. Time to open eyes, answer questions and tie them into history.

You are on the money...it’s about payback to Whitey. What scares me most is that unknown event which will occur just before November 2010 to facilitate martial law and the ‘postponement’ of election day.

Your post #183. You make good points.

This current regime's goals do not much include thwarting or destroying Islamic terrorists who mean to enslave and destroy America's religion, power, and culture and install a Muslim Caliphate.

Instead, they are intent on discrediting and destroying those whom they feel are the genuine enemies of their power,... conservative American patriots, the large bulk of whom are white and not favorably disposed to the reigning governmental bribery and endemic racial and ethnic corruption and Marxist views through which the regime promotes and maintains it's expanding powers.

"I can't believe the absurd incompetence that emanates from the Obama Administration."

.... agreed, and I can't believe that there are supposed "career intel professionals" like Brennan who are just as obtuse and ignorant in their weasel-hood as the pols like Obambi --- b/c anyone who spends a career in intel OUGHT to understand matters soooo much better than Brennan does. How weasels like Brennan and previously Richard Clark get to high positions in the bureaucracy is a huge part of the problem, although of course nothing much can change so long as we have Demagogues and RINOs rewarding people like that.

Thanks for your response. Homeland Security was at least borne of a real requirement to defend Americans against jihadist terror. Like all bureaucratic efforts it is being subverted as it evolves/devolves. In this case it is being re-made to serve the political agenda of a racialist who feels more sympathy with the terrorists than the people he swore an oath to defend. It’s appalling.

Thanks for your response. I think you are correct to fear that some sort of semi-contrived game-changing event will be staged to impact future elections. Obamsky is not merely a devotee of Alinsky but of all those who formed Alinsky’s views and tactics—including those who stage-managed the types of events you fear during the Cold War, such as the Prague Spring and the so-called “hockey riot” that led to the invasion of Soviet tanks into Czechoslovakia, accomplished without UN objection.
