LOL guess it was.

I was at a friends house at Southern Hills when a hail storm ruined her garden and stripped her trees pretty good.

Not big hail, just overwhelmingly too much and too many.

Did not hear of anything in Bethany. Most of the damage came along Rt 9 from the tornado that formed in south Norman about a block from the National Weather Center which picked up speed and became huge as it moved along Rt 9 — at one point it grew to over a mile wide. The other damage area that got hit really hard was in the Choctaw area and east along I-40. Storms started in Yukon. It actually blew semi’s off the road along with other vehicles all across the metro.

Lot of damage along Rt 9 with this huge tornado. It went about two miles south of where I live. It took the marina out at Lake Thunderbird breaking it loose from the shore and it is out in the lake with boats tossed everywhere.

Tecumseh a town east of Norman was hit really hard with three deaths so far and search and rescue going on as I type. Been watching TV since 4 o’clock.

It is freaky with a tornado on Rt 9 less than two miles south of where I live and another one about two miles north of where I live which took down three high tension power lines. 16,000 homes in Norman are still without power.

They said this is one of the largest outbreaks ever in OK on one day with around 30 tornadoes reported by the end of the day that were on the ground. With most of them being rain wrapped there was little notification.

Sirens have finally stopped here in Norman for the evening. We have a lot of search and rescue people coming into the area being staged out of Lloyd Noble on the OU campus. Until it got dark we were seeing news helicopters flying over.

The OU medical helicopter was at the Seminole airport when the tornado hit there and cannot fly.

A lot of damage, mobile home parks mostly destroy, brick houses flatened along with business. To anyone who has driven into the Oklahoma City area from the east on I-40, the Love’s Store just outside the city before you hit I-240 has been destroyed.

Little Axe schools were hit hard by Lake Thunderbird. That area has no electricity and little water tonight.

Dry line has moved through central Oklahoma and storm activity for the day has moved east mostly into Arkansas.

This is a quick update from Norman.

Thanks for the update. I remember tornadoes going through OKC a few years back. Here is the old thread describing that occasion.

Was glued to my TV all afternoon and evening. For anyone who hasn't been in OK, our local TV has a lot of storm chasers out who send feeds back to the station to let us know where the tornadoes are located and they track the tornadoes storms by block to let you know where they are headed. Today was a huge problem as some of them became rain wrapped.

The one over Lake Thunderbird that came out of Norman grew over the lake as it picked up water. The pictures are unbelievable.

For the last three or four days the weather people have been talking about today being a significant event — they were correct. That dry line coming across the state set off these massive storms with circulation that turned into tornadoes.
