So the “Ultra-Orthodox” are not your most conservative Jewish people??
From the story:
“65% of ultra-Orthodox Jews don’t work, government figures show. The non-employment rate for ultra-Orthodox men has tripled since 1970, Ben-David said.”
So these “Ultra-Orthodox” people are actually people from Muslim nations and not Israel?
There is no such thing as “ultra-orthodox.”
Any source that uses that term is silly, including Haartz.
“So these Ultra-Orthodox people are actually people from Muslim nations and not Israel?”
Correct (with some exceptions).
They are “Haredi” (who can be from wherever), but generally are Mizrahim (Jewish people expelled from “the East” -— typically muslim countries).
They are of the Sephardic (”Spanish” although not necessarily from Spain) tradition, compared to Ashkenazi (European, typically Germany/Poland/France).
I am Orthodox. I don’t, however, look like a reject from ZZ Top.
