Quote from book:

Your father wrote back saying he was going ahead with it. Then you were born and we agreed that the three of us would return to Kenya after he finished his studies. But your grandfather Hussien was still writing to your father threatening to have his student visa revoked.

End Quote

Now if Baracks father was writing to his mother and she knew that Hussein grandfather was writing to Baracks father??? Where was mother? Living in Kenya with Hussein the grandfather..... Otherwise they both would have been in Hawaii - but if both were in Hawaii, then why was Barack Sr. writing to Stanley???? Hmmmmm.... Interesting!

Seems to me that Stanley Ann was in Kenya with grandfather and had baby. Barack Sr. was in Hawaii deciding that he was going to Harvard and that they would return to Kenya after his studies. Any thoughts on this one?

This isn't complicated. Barack Sr.'s parents are in Kenya. Barack Sr. is in Hawaii with Stanley. Barack Sr. is corresponding via mail with his parents in Kenya, writing and receiving letters from them, and he's verbally reporting to Stanley what is in those letters.

but if both were in Hawaii, then why was Barack Sr. writing to Stanley????

He wasn't. Nothing in the text indicates he was. What makes you think he was?
