Two unsuccessful Republican candidates in North Carolina have turned their guns on the primary election winner, endangering the partys hopes of defeating longtime Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.) in November.
GOP voters in the 7th District on May 4 nominated Ilario Pantano, a charismatic Iraq War veteran with a personal story many find compelling and a past encounter with military justice that gives others concern.
Among the latter is Will Breazeale, the second-place finisher and 2008 nominee against McIntyre, who told POLITICO on Wednesday he would do what he can to keep Pantano from winning the seat. He said the third-place finsher, Randy Crow, would join him at a news conference Tuesday in Wilmington, N.C., to discuss their plans.
Were going to work against him, Breazeale also an Iraq veteran said. If the Republicans dont like it they can kick me out.
Pantano, who served in the Marines during the Gulf War and later became a Wall Street trader for Goldman Sachs, rejoined the Corps after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. On April. 15, 2004, while serving in Iraq, Pantano shot two Iraqis who had been detained by his unit. He was charged with murder, but the charges were dropped after an investigation found that the shooting was justified.

Which, if any, is conservative?
What is going on with all these sore loser Republicans?
Pantano took 51 percent of the primary vote to 35 percent for Breazeale and 14 percent for Crow, according to unofficial results. He outraised and outspent both his primary opponents and raised $19,000 more than McIntyre in the first quarter of this year.
Sounds like a case of sour grapes.
A potential issue as GS appears to be a hotbed for 'rat supporters.
“Pantano took 51 percent of the primary vote to 35 percent for Breazeale and 14 percent for Crow, according to unofficial results. He outraised and outspent both his primary opponents and raised $19,000 more than McIntyre in the first quarter of this year.”
“Republicans were also encouraged by the fact that the district had gone for GOP nominee John McCain 52 percent to 47 percent in 2008.”
The primary is over.
The losers need to STFU.
“Breazeale takes issue with the support Pantano has received, saying he has a moral obligation to oppose the nominee because of his actions in Iraq.”
So the successful candidate killed two of the enemy and was cleared of any charge of wrongdoing. That too is over.
STFU.
‘It takes a military man like me to explain to civilians how bad that is, [Breazeale] said, adding that McIntyre is sure to use Pantanos actions against him in the campaign.’
Purely a political loser so far and already an elitist explaining things to the stupid people.
STFU.
Tell them to find another party to support. Who needs people like this? Dishonorable scum!
Other articles I’ve read indicated that Breazeale has issues with Pantano other than the Iraqi killings. He also says that Pantano has been dishonest with voters about his status as a Deputy Sherriff, and that Pantano won’t disclose anything about his current income and how he is supporting his family. He calls Pantano a ‘snake oil salesman’.
I don’t know if any of that is relevant or if any of the voters care (I don’t live in the district, but have met Pantano on a number of occasions). I just wanted to point out that Breazeale has been griping about a lot of things this week.
Bye-Bye! Don't let the door hit ya in a$$ on your way out, loser!
According to a letter at Politico:
“Breazeale said, “It takes a military man like me to explain to civilians how bad that is.”
No. It absolutely does not. We don’t need a numbskull scumbucket REMF like Slick Will telling us how to interpret the events in Iraq.
I will however take the analysis of extremely competent COMBAT-tested men who have resoundingly endorsed Ilario Pantano, like the Medal of Honor recipient Major General James Livingston, Major General John K. Singlaub, Major General Paul E. Vallely, Major General Huck and LTC Winn (the original arbiters of the Article 32), Colonel Buzz Patterson, Major Gene Duncan, and all the vets of the Iraq Veterans For Congress and Vets For Freedom.
Breazeale is nothing more than a wanna-be and a never-was. His huckster claims of combat in Iraq (when he was stationed in Kuwait) are fraudulent.
This doofus has no idea how arrogant and offensive he is. The people of NC-7 know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Breazeale is a slick con with a disgusting personal history. That’s why they have rejected him in every single political race he has ever run - either as a Democrat or a Republican. The sooner this clown is off the political stage, the better. His attempts to derail and sabotage the Republican chances in District 7 are earning him the enmity of his former supporters. What a vile piece of garbage.”
Even if Breazeale had anything at all, it is over.
At this point, his carping just helps the Democrat.
Break out the “SoreLoserman” bumper stickers?
And I hope the Republicans DO kick out these sore losers.
Ole Mike back in AGAIN. Damn it.
As November nears, WP inspired politico becomes more and more partisan, seizing on every opportunity to portray the normal democratic process as an irrevocable split among conservatives. As we near election season, politico and other pseudo-journalistic outlets will seek to dole out poison pills.
“What is going on with all these sore loser Republicans?”
I don’t know. We have an excellent shot of gaining an extraordinary amount of seats but the Republicans are destroying those chances. I don’t think RINOS will allow conservatives to win. I think they would rather have the Democrat win.
Breazeale was won of the annointed conservatives. But he lost, and needs to get in line. The problem with the Tea Party movement is that it wants to play in the Republican primaries, but then it’s candidates want to claim they don’t have to abide by the results, and can do whatever they want.
If you play Republican, don’t be like Crist and turn on the winner.
We’ll manage to lose a lot of seats in November because of people who think they are entitled to victory simply because they ran.
