MARIETTA - Jessica Colotl, the illegal immigrant enrolled at Kennesaw State University who has a warrant out for her arrest, has been located and her attorneys are talking with the Cobb County Sheriff's office, according to a joint statement released Thursday night.
According to the statement, which is from her criminal and immigration attorneys, as well as human rights groups, there will be a press conference at 2 p.m. today to further discuss Colotl's controversial situation. The location had not been determined by press time.
"We are relieved to report that Jessica is safe," according to the statement. "She has been in communication with the Cobb County Sheriff's office and is moving to resolve the issue of her warrant in an orderly and appropriate manner."
Late Thursday calls to Sheriff's Office officials to confirm went unreturned.
Colotl, 21, of Duluth, was stopped on the university campus on March 29 for a traffic violation and later arrested for driving without a valid license. After Colotl was booked into Cobb Jail, she was turned over to immigration authorities. She was taken to the Etowah County Detention Center in Gadsden, Ala., on April 1, but was released May 5 and authorities agreed to defer any action against her for one year so she could return to her studies at the university.
On Wednesday evening, however, the Cobb Sheriff's Office obtained a warrant for Colotl on a felony charge of lying to law-enforcement officials, based on a reportedly false address she provided upon her book-in at the Cobb County Jail in March. What I’d like to know is when the authorities found out she was illegal why wasn’t the rest of her family arrested and taken into custody as well?

What's worse is she's denying a US Citizen a desk and a college education. Kick her and her family out and jail anyone who has assisted them starting with the president of the university.

If you’re talking about government owned banks and schools (I don’t know why you would want those) then I agree with you. But the government has no business telling a private operator how to conduct their business as long as they aren’t violating anyones rights.
Look, I’m as against illegal immigration as most people here and I want a hell of a lot more done but not at the expense of our rights.
