A magistrate who branded two boys 'absolute scum' after they desecrated a cathedral faces disciplinary action.
The 16-year-old boys wrote racist and sexually-abusive graffiti in prayer books, and bent a priceless John The Baptist cross out of shape at Blackburn Cathedral, causing £3,000 damage.
Pages were also torn out of the prayer books and insults written in the prayer and visitor books included: 'I will kill all Jews. Don’t underestimate me', and lurid sexual comments about ‘the vicar'.
They were caught after they wrote their names in the visitors' book.
Chairman of the bench at Blackburn Magistrates' Court Austin Molloy labelled the boys 'absolute scum' during the sentencing yesterday at the Youth Court.
But he was immediately criticised by the court clerk who stood up and objected to the use of the 'inappropriate language'.
The mother of one of the boys said she would be making an official complaint.

The statue in question is, more or less, priceless.
Fortunately, he only bent the cross rather than broke it, which meant an expert, at a great deal of expenses, was able to repair it - if the central wire had broken, it would have been incredibly difficult to restore to anything close to original condition.
Aha! One of them was fined 1500 pounds. So something approximately approaching justice then.
Between them they’ve paid about 1600 pounds in fines for causing roughly 2000 pounds damage (some of the repairs were done free of charge, or that bill would be much higher).
It’s a pity the money can’t go directly to the Cathedral.
OK I first thought this was actual branding, which is maybe going a liitle too far.
If it isn’t drunken sots killing each other at a ‘football’ match, or some asshole ‘Royal’ making an ass out of himself, or the entire PC nation bending over backwards as they’re f***ed by Muslim trash, it’s another! What a waste of humanity the UK is. People denied life-saving care left to die on gurnies, half the country on the welfare dole living in those squalid little hovels they call houses, spending their entire lives drinking piss-warm beer and eating food we would slop to hogs! The UK! A beautiful place to die!
It’s a hell of a thing when a judge can get sanctioned for telling the truth.

If you read the comments after the article, there is only one idiot condemning the magistrate - an American. All other posters from the UK. and Europe are thoroughly disgusted with this exhibition of political correctness.
Boy, the people in the local paper (Lancashire Telegraph) let them have it too! The article didn’t have much more additional info, but it did say the boys are 16 and white — definitely old enough to receive serious punishment. Apparently they’ll pay back their fines at 10 pounds per week.
On one level, perhaps, there will be no consequences, but that's not the level those boys are or should be paying attention to. There definitely will be consequences.

Have traveled extensively in England. Have been there many, many times on business. My daughter attended Cambridge. I will grant that in the outlying moors the rabble are somewhat more restrained. It’s a socialist hell-hole. And the ‘food’! Don’t get me started on the food............................. See, you were WRONG!
Ah - I think you might want to check who your posts go to. This one was directed at me, but is not replying to anything I said.
Now - who is going to turn out better as an adult do you think - Boy A with this father, or Boy B with his mother?
