A member of Arizona's top government utilities agency threw down the gauntlet in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution for the city's boycott of Arizona.
If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.
That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution.

Put up or Shut up !
What a GREAT response. But just watch the leftists moan, wail and cry! OK for THEM to boycott, threaten, etc but UNFAIR for anyone to get even!
First, I am an Arizonan and want to fight back. We have a peoblem and want to fix it. California has a problem and is afraid to try to fix it. CA will posture and scream but will not boycott us.
Might as well dam up the Colorado River too.
A boycott is a boycott. If Nevada is racist, so is the electricity generated in Nevada and I’m sure LA would not want to light up with racist electricity - either put up or shut up.
Here’s the letter, if you haven’t read it! It’s great!
Text of letter from Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary Pierce to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa after Los Angeles City Council approved boycott of Arizona because of its new immigration law:
Dear Mayor Villaraigosa,
I was dismayed to learn that the Los Angeles City Council voted to boycott Arizona and Arizona-based companies a vote you strongly supported to show opposition to SB 1070 (Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act).
You explained your support of the boycott as follows: “While we recognize that as neighbors, we share resources and ties with the State of Arizona that may be difficult to sever, our goal is not to hurt the local economy of Los Angeles, but to impact the economy of Arizona. Our intent is to use our dollars or the withholding of our dollars to send a message.” (emphasis added)
I received your message; please receive mine. As a state-wide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona’s electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the “resources and ties” we share with the City of Los Angeles. In fact, approximately twenty-five percent of the electricity consumed in Los Angeles is generated by power plants in Arizona.
If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.
People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A state-wide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill.
Sincerely,
Commissioner Gary Pierce
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Wednesday defiantly rejected a warning by a top Arizona utilities official that the state could cut off power to Los Angeles should the city proceed with its boycott of all things Arizona.
The Colorado River already has at least four dams that I can think of off the top of my head.

He and his buddies will find themselves living in a barren, waterless, powerless, primitive desert wilderness in about 15 minutes.
Good! Arizona is going “Galt”!
The only mistake Pierce made is assuming that Villaraigosa and the wackos on the L.A. city council are people of goodwill. They're a bunch of liberal bedwetters who want to bend everyone else to their will.
Is there any word about what LA has said back?
Pull the Plug!
Pull the Plug!
Pull the Plug!
See post #48.
Well then they should inform the mayor that they assume that means he wants no water or power and will be looking for a nother buyer...in the mean time the contract will be renegoiated to include a 25% increase to cover what AZ will lose iin the boycott. The mayor can explain to everyoe why their rates are climbing and why they might not have A/C in July.
They’ve painted themselves into a corner now. This will be fun to watch.
How will I post sarcastic remarks with no power?
