More Than 30,000 In NJ Protest State Budget Cuts

Thousands of people, some holding signs, fill the street near the New Jersey Statehouse during a rally Saturday, May 22, 2010, in Trenton, N.J., to protest Gov. Chris Christie's proposed budget cuts. Organizers say members of public employee unions hope a show of force will sway the state's top politicians to fight Christie. Gov. TRENTON, N.J. - A crowd estimated at 30,000 to 35,000 people gathered Saturday near New Jersey's Statehouse to protest Gov. Chris Christie's proposed budget cuts. State police, who gave the crowd estimate, said no problems were reported.

The crowd is believed to be one of the largest ever to protest in state history. It was mostly comprised of public employee union members and several community and nonprofit groups that would lose some or all their funding if Christie's plans are adopted. Christie has called for workers to accept wage freezes, and he's pushed for them to contribute toward their health benefits.

“A crowd estimated at 30,000 to 35,000 people...”

Let’s see. Since it’s MSNBC doing the reporting, the crowd size was probably more like 30 to 35 people!

Christie has the courage that no one else seems to have!!!

You notice how the numbers in this union inspired protest get blown way out of proportion in the MSM, but when over 1 million march on Washington last Sept 12, barely a mention. Does that seem right?

My employer (private company)informed me this past week that I would be receiving a 5% pay cut. The company has projected a 2.5 million loss for the current budget year. Better a pay cut than a job cut. Union workers seem to have no concept of budgets, profits and losses. Nothing is guaranteed in life.

One signs that a teacher holds at this rally reads as:

31 Years Teaching Experience
5 certificates
"Teacher of the Year"
Salary Under 6 Figures (emphasis on under)
Paying into Pensions & Taxes for 31 years
Give Back? (hard to read this)
I Have Been

I'm sure many would love to have her salary, and benefits, and their summers off also. Probably has free heath-care? And guaranteed benefits for life when she retires.

Folks, the public services unions are going to go exactly the same way as the industrial unions have gone. They will destroy themselves. Just look at the status of the UAW, the Teamsters, the steel workers, the ladies garment union. They are all a tiny shadow of their former selves. The SEIU and the NEA will soon go the same way. The American people will destroy these greedy incompetents. Barack Hussein Obama cannot save them. He is living in a failed presidency, and the majority of the American people know it.
