In an operation known as a junk shot,
Did Hillary get one of these?
In his own words Obama owns this top-kill operation:
Now, when it comes to whats happening on the surface, weve been much more involved in the in situ burns, in the skimming. Those have been happening more or less under our direction. And we feel comfortable about many of the steps that have been taken. There have been areas where there have been disagreements. Ill give you two examples.
Initially on this top kill, you know, there were questions in terms of how effective it could be. But also what were the risks involved? Because were operating at such a pressurized level, a mile underwater, and at such frigid temperatures that the reactions of various compounds and various approaches had to be calibrated very carefully.
Thats when I sent Steven Chu down, the secretary of Energy, and he brought together a team basically, a brain trust, some of the smartest folks we have at the national labs and in academia to essentially serve as a oversight board with BP engineers and scientists in making calculations about how much mud could you pour down, how fast, without risking potentially the whole thing blowing.
So in that situation, youve got the federal government directly overseeing what BP is doing, and Thad Allen is giving authorization when finally we feel comfortable that the risks of attempting a top kill, for example, are are sufficiently reduced that it needs to be tried.
Paging George Costanza, Paging George Costanza!
But the technician working on the effort said later Friday that despite the injections at various pressure levels, engineers had been able to keep less than 10 percent of the injection fluids inside the stack of pipes above the well. He said that was barely an improvement on Wednesdays results when the operation began and was suspended after 11 hours. BP resumed the pumping effort Thursday evening for about 10 more hours.
I wont say progress was zero, but I dont know if we can round up enough mud to make it work, the technician said. Everyone is disappointed at this time.
It looks more and more like they're pumping mud into the hole just to have it leak out through cracks in the drill pipe and cracks in the surrounding rock, someting that was at least likely because BP sped up the drilling to save money and, in doing so, cracked some of the more fragile formations. Interesting that the Times reporters don't seem to have learned of this problem.
Is “junk shot” a porno term
Title is wrong,,, BP is not in charge. BO is in charge, If it fails,he fails.
I came across some high end chatter on an oil-tech site that said the oil at the bottom is discharging from pressure thats about 8000 psi. I’m not a scientist, but I have a better that most understanding of cause and effect in the physical world....This is really bad...
