In a way, this helps Goddard. If he succesfully defended the law, it would hurt his fundraising efforts for his gubernatorial run. If he unsuccessfully defended it, it would lose him votes.
Nobody trusts Goddard to defend the state. This does nothing for or against Goddard, but it does insure that the state will have a strong defender instead of a party hack.
Those of us who lived under his father's weak governorship remember what a bunch of weasels the Goddard family are.
AZ is unified in its fight against the illegal immigration problem. I don’t see how a successful defense would hurt him politically unless you’re anticipating the out of state support would be jeopardized.
He’s way down now. If he was smart he’d have come out to the right like other Dems have done to win. He stayed left, now he’s toast.
