I thought of drilling sideways into the riser pipe along time ago to relieve some of the pressure...but I think everything has to be done evenly so it would mean drilling two holes simultaneously...

The next bad thought is "shear" on ony one of those sides could wreck a huge section....

Does anyone think they are cutting slots on opposing sides to get a clamp in there and pull the drill pipe up?
