Flotilla Passengers Fire Live Ammunition at IDF Soldiers [and other IDF videos]

Follow the link to the you tube IDF site. There are many videos here about the flotilla raid.

For those of you who have "seen the elephant", the featured video is chilling.

Shalom

Judgments have already been made. Please don’t bother the world with proof of Israel’s self-defence.

Whoever approved this operational plan should be keelhauled.

It was the worst plan since Custer tried to sneak up on the Sioux.

I’m assuming with your background you’ve done it for real. What parts are you criticizing ?

Fastroping onto a ship crammed with terrorists and terrorist supporters. You have to go down the rope one at a time. The time delay can’t be helped. The first down was predictably swarmed. The rope was nearly tied off to the radar support brackets, which could have brought the helo down. Totally FUBAR.

Incidentally, our unit, including me, began fastroping in 1982. If anybody fastroped before that outside of the SAS and SEAL Team 6, let me know.

Fastroping is a good idea on, for example, a hijacked tanker where the handful of hijackers can’t control all of the open deck spaces. Also, normally, the fastropers are protected by snipers on other helos ready to fire live ammo at anybody who interferes with the fastropers and fastrope helo during their extremely vulnerable period hovering over the ship. This only works with a big ship, open decks, few hijackers, and snipers for cover fire.

NONE of those conditions existed here.

Sorry to repost this, but I hope the idea trickles back to where it might do some good.

The IDF should have fabricated a ship-disabling mini-homing torpedo for these contingencies. It would go for the propellers, and instead of expolosives it would unspool clouds of thin kevlar and wire lines to foul the props and stop the ships. Alternatively, the torpedo could be programmed to drive at the ships speed plus 5 knots directly into the propellers, unbalancing them and disabling the ship.

Nothing would be heard, seen or filmed. The torpedos would be incapable of penetrating the hull or sinking the ships. But they would stop the ships.

The IDF pioneered UAVs with mini missiles that only destroy one car without breaking windows across the street. You would think they would have had a technical answer for these ships, short of the FUBAR spectacle of boarding them with commandos, on film.

There are already mini-torpedos used as decoys and for other special purposes in every navy’s inventory. These existing mini torpedos can be used as the existing chassis. Only the homing method and payload would have to be changed.

Instead of this FUBAR cluster foxtrot, tonight 2 or 3 of the ships would be adrift, and under tow by the other ships.
No shooting, no outrage, no dramatic video of “Israeli stormtroopers assaulting a peace ship.”

(I was involved in Naval Special Warfare a long time ago, and “out of the box” ideas were our specialty.)

Once they got the IDF guys off the damn thing I’d have just put a real torpedo into it and let it sink. But I’m just old-fashioned.

The problem is, “we” (western-oriented cultures) spend too much time and effort and casualties worrying about not killing these assholes.

Pardon my French.

I clicked on one video with a narrator that allowed comments. How sad to read some of them! The media and such have done a job on Israel, there are many who believe Israel was to blame, even with the evidence otherwise staring them in the face! Frightening.

With advanced warning... blow the hulls out of the water... Israel 25 years ago would have... you screw with the bull... you get the horns. The world is a pu$$y... they did nothing to n. korea because they threaten and do it... Israel should threaten and DO IT!

That graphic is VERY good. I can’t stop laughing. That’s apparently what some people need these days.
