Suspect Van der Sloot in Peru; Video shows 2 enter room, only one leaves

LIMA, Peru — The lone suspect in the disappearance of U.S. teen Natalee Holloway was paraded — moist-eyed and looking stunned — before reporters today as Peruvians denounced him and detectives began interrogating him about the murder of a Lima student.

Joran van der Sloot arrived at criminal police headquarters in a brown Interpol SUV and was escorted across an auditorium of shouting, shutter-snapping journalists three times.

Wearing a green bulletproof vest, his hands handcuffed behind him, the husky 22-year-old stared straight ahead and didn't respond to reporters' questions or make eye contact.

Outside, seven Indian shamans in brightly colored ponchos repeatedly stabbed a cloth doll representing van der Sloot in a "spiritual punishment" ritual. "We're punishing him so that all the forces of evil are purged," one shouted.

About an hour earlier, onlookers yelled insults at the man who has dominated Peruvian front pages as police switched cars south of the foggy coastal capital.

It’s not a place I would let my daughter go. Not until she’s 30.

“That seems odd, why wouldn’t they collect that DNA before she was buried?”

It’s Peru, CSI reruns costs too much for the TV stations :)
*****************************************************
That doesn’t work for me. :p (I don’t watch CSI, so I think I’m missing part of the humor here)

They knew enough to declare there was DNA under her nails but didn’t collect it and forbade cremation, reinforcing the idea they were well aware— not backwards and unknowing.

There is also a phone text she sent and Van der Punk bought bread and two coffees that morning before he left.

Do I think this fella is a guilty punk who deserves punishment, hell yes!

I also happen to believe that Stephany Flores deserves absolute justice— certain justice.

If it wasn’t Van der Sloot then whomever needs to be found and held accountable.

I cringe to think there is a possibility somebody could walk riding on VDS evil.

I just want truth and justice to happen for Stephany— not the easiest, most hated suspect to provide cover for another person just as evil.

I do do a happy dance to think this punks card has been pulled, though.

“If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison”. WTH? For murder? I hope he does not come out alive.

Ok, I can accept weird and kinky, but murder?

"Weird and kinky=children. I hope you can't accept that.

That video is pretty damning....Hopefully there's a bit of his DNA under her nails...

And he didn't consider the camera...why??

I hope he does not come out alive.

I wonder if we can find any truly viable statistics on prison release in Peru that would allow us to calculate the odds?

It's also possible that if the authorities thought that a local did the crime, they would not need as much evidence as they would to convict a high-profile suspect like Van Der Sloot.

I doubt he will survive 25 years "to do."

If, indeed, he's spending anytime with the general population, I doubt he'll make it much past his trial.

He'll wish he was dead, until five minutes after he dies.

This is a tragic story for the victim, but I can't help laughing at this.

One of the great ironies of the events surrounding this guy Van der Sloot ("the Dutch Ted Kennedy") is that he probably would have been far better off if he had faced justice in Aruba and copped a plea in the death of Natalee Holloway. I can't think of too many people who would enjoy facing justice in Peru. Lori Berenson can provide some insight into this.

Fortunately, he was nabbed at the Ted Kennedy stage before he could move on to the Ted Bundy level.

The Holloway case has followed many twists and turns. Two years ago, a Dutch television crime reporter captured hidden-camera footage of van der Sloot saying he was with Holloway when she collapsed on a beach from being drunk. He said he believed she was dead and asked a friend to dump her body in the sea. Judges subsequently refused to arrest van der Sloot on the basis of the tape.

The journalist, Peter de Vries, reported later in 2008 that he had documented van der Sloot recruiting Thai women in Bangkok for sex work in the Netherlands.

I don’t believe this POS’s original story -—

if you are on the beach with a girl and she suddenly goes unconscious, you don’t say Oh shit let’s find a place to bury the body;

you call an ambulance or call the cops.

I think he beat the first one to death on the beach, just like the second, and so had to hide the body cuz there was no way to explain away the injuries ...

I read he beat the second one so badly she was unrecognizable with one eye out ...

Sorry everyone.

I think he, and his father, cruise casinos for young girls and then -— did you read? -— when things go wrong the judge father advises punky boy “If there is no body there is no case”. I also read that the father helped dispose of the first body.

Everyone for years kept saying Oh Natalie must have passed out, taken drugs, drunk too much ........

Or did she just say something to this frowning low brow creep that set him off? Just as, it seems, did the girl from the casino ... at 5 AM ... in Peru.

Girls:

Don’t go back to hotels rooms with really ugly scowling b*stards at 5 AM ——— go home instead !!!

One 18-year-old white girl from Alabama gets drunk on a graduation trip to Aruba, goes off and ‘gives it up’ while in a foreign country, and that stays in the news for months!” he added. “Maybe I am missing something!”

Hate Speech.

35 years is the max for murder. And, Peru has the celebrity jail thing, drugs, cell phones, women, etc. Someone should cap his sorry ass.

Yep! He will earn his cigarettes and food with his mouth and butt. Couldn’t happen to a nicer, more deserving guy.

If the victim’s father is as well connected as some say, I doubt that he gets the celebrity prison. He may but it will be as a sex slave to the perverts confined there. He may also get drugs, but he will have to earn them.

************************************************************

I can respect that idea but I can’t respect that as a reality.

If they KNOW there’s evidence under the nails, take it and preserve it.

They have given Van doh Punk the perfect out.

I want Holloway and Flores to have justice, it’s the most we living can give them.

Truth, fact, punishment without flinching.

VDS deserves punishment but I fear our eagerness to see VDS pay, could allow another to not pay.

We can’t allow our emotions to pummel lady justice.

I just want ALL guilty to pay here on earth and the after.

Yea, I was hoping for that too. In Peru, I would think that a foreigner killing a VIP’s 18 year old daughter would get him popped.
