Senior Tories today warned Barack Obama to back off as billions of pounds were wiped off BP shares in the row over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Mayor Boris Johnson demanded an end to “anti-British rhetoric, buck-passing and name-calling” after days of scathing criticism directed at BP by the President and other US politicians.

Former Conservative Party chairman Lord Tebbit branded Mr Obama's conduct “despicable”. And with the dispute threatening to escalate into a diplomatic row, Mr Johnson also appeared to suggest that David Cameron should step in to defend BP.

To me it just seems to tie in with his whole attitude to us...

To be sure, Obama has acted detestably towards Great Britain.

The focus of late, and of this article, concerns the oil spill decimating our southern coast. Shameful or not, 'BP' does stand for 'British Petroleum', just as 'AA' stands for 'American Airlines'.

Personally, I see no need for anomous towards BP, as this was obviously an accident....a tragic accident. It will ruin the lives of many in the US, as well as Britain.

That we have an incredibly boorish, and incompetant President does not alter this tragedy from lying squarely at the feet of BP. Pensioners are being devastated by BP, not by the splitter Obama.

Think you would find most British people would rather cut off their own right arm than vote for a black muslim, you may have been reading to many British based left leaning papers.

Our politicians really need to grow a pair to be honest. Any anger needs to be directed at BP for the damage they have done to both American and British citizens' livelihoods. They're being incredibly precious about this perceived criticism.

And I know for a fact that if this had been a US multi-national that had been responsible for this disaster off, say, the coast of Cornwall, our own leftists would be frothing at the mouth with anti-Americanism. Plenty of our so-called Conservatives too.

Probably be blaming President Bush to boot!

I have reflected upon our conversation, and am disappointed with my initial reaction.

Obama has a life-long practice of demonizing others purely for his own agrandizement. As you state, he is most certainly doing that now with little regard for the peoples of Britain.

If it were for me to apologize, I would.

I’ve only just got back from work. Has he done something else I haven’t found out about yet?
