Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen in hot seat over Gulf oil spill
Associated Press ^ | June 11, 2010 | AP

The Gulf oil spill spoiling the teeming marshes and white-sand beaches of the Gulf Coast is also threatening the pristine image of the burly, take-charge leader who has become the federal government's go-to guy in a disaster. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, one of the few federal officials whose reputation survived Hurricane Katrina intact, is facing growing criticism that he and his agency are overwhelmed by the catastrophe. It's unfamiliar territory for a former Coast Guard Academy football captain who has managed responses to crises that include the earthquake in Haiti, Katrina and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"It's very discombobulated and disorganized," Orange Beach, Ala., Mayor Tony Kennon said of the federal response after tar balls stained the beach and entered Perdido Bay this week, without protection from booms. "They had five weeks to get ready for this, and it still happened."

This is a must read article. Just as many of us expected....Allen is being set up to go under the bus for Obama and his adminstration's dereliction of duty.

Some snippets:

"David Camardelle, mayor of Grand Isle, La., said he meets daily with state and federal officials but that when he brings up a problem or offers a solution he's told "BP or EPA, or the Coast Guard is going to have to approve this before we can do anything."

(snip)

"There's also the Katrina-like gap between what federal officials say is happening and what local leaders say they are seeing. Since the beginning, Allen has insisted the government and BP deployed more resources than needed. That is consistently disputed by local and state officials who complain of poor coordination, shortages of boom and skimmers, agonizing delays in getting responses to requests and a general reluctance to try new or experimental cleanup strategies."

Yes, of course Obama and his useless Marxist mob will not take the heat for their incompetence and malfeasance. Zero is so far in over his head, let’s hope that even the dolts of the electorate get the message as to what they did to this country.

He showed his cards at being all happy & proud about "We've reached a million gallons of dispersant!"

Then when he say how quiet the pres room got he quickly flip-flopped, "Well , maybe that's not such a good thing."

Thad didn't crawl to the top w/o the good'ol'boy club way up his pants!

For 50 days they have known that when they are able to start pumping oil to the surface in a controlled manner, they don’t have enough ships to store the oil.....!

I just heard on the news that it will be a month before another ship large enough to hold oil gets there!

You hit the nail on the head. It’s wilful malfeasance and a dereliction of duty.

It’s time to call for Zero’s resignation.

Heck, Allen has been the ONLY administration official who has exuded any sense of leadership or competence during this mess.

It’s all so unreal!! How come we were able to send in plenty of help and ships to Haiti during the earthquake, yet all of sudden we can’t even get help to our own countrymen on the Gulf Coast? Obama and his administration act as if they have no responsibility or money to do anything!! They are running around talking lawsuits while the entire gulf is drowning!

Which, apparently, in those circles the one who stands out is the one that goes down as he has become the ‘face’ of the problem.
We all know where the problem lies, it is just educating the ‘masses’ to what the electorate has thrust upon us.
Couple of hurricanes etc ought to really put the icing on the cake.
Hope that BP dude has the gonads to stand up to the imposter in charge. He should come with his guard up as OB has done nothing but insult the Brits from the gitgo.

” Just as many of us expected....Allen is being set up to go under the bus for Obama and his adminstration’s dereliction of duty. “

Do we have a pool going as to exactly when Barry shoves Allen overboard ?
When Barry’s poll numbers dip into the 30s is probably a safe bet.
BP 1 and BP 2 ( Black President ) and the Coast Guard have clearly been overwhelmed from the beginning .
Only BP2 could care less.
Barry checked out physically and emotionally ,
he partied and relaxed for two months doing his best imitation of Alfred E Neuman while things spun completely out of control in the Gulf.
Somebody else is going to be his fall guy , most likely Admiral Allen.
In a perfect world, the Three Stooges-Barry, Napolitano and Salazar would resign in shame.

Moving quickly from "Search for the guilty" to "Punishment of the innocent", I see.

"Rewards and honors for the uninvolved" will be along shortly.

Adm Allen has been placed in a no-win situation by 0bamao. This provides 0bamao and Janet Incompetano a buffer and built in fall guy. Where's the EPA in all this?

0bamao's Chernobyl

I haven’t been impressed with Allen either, but the buck stops with Obama. Remember..Obama has been ‘in charge from day one’. In testimony yesterday on Capitol Hill, it was learned that the Coast Guard was being forced to ration the response because of their limited budget! Yet Obama parties on at the WH with millions of taxpayer dollars without a care in the world!! Obama just sent 400 MILLION dollars to Gaza..yet he acts as if anything that gets done on the coast has to be paid for by BP up front or it doesn’t get done.

AND, instead of having extra parts for the machinery, they had to send for it.

“Where’s the EPA in all this?’

Busy laying bureaucratic red tape everywhere, instead of tankers, booms and skimmers.

Allen is being set up to go under the bus for Obama

Exactly right. Compare this with President Bush's response to Katrina where the Coast Guard was first first responder. W took the heat and never once blamed anyone else and had nothing but praise for the Coast Guard who save many lives in the immediate aftermath. Obama is a weasel and a coward.

Authority can be deligated but not responsibility. The responsibility of the cleanup is Barry’s.
