I understand you need to save face...but it’s way too late for that...screaming about nascar aint gonna distract from you getting suckered by a family of attention whores.
Sure they got a right to make a buck...but stop pretending it was about anything other than making a buck.
It surely wasnt about rugged individualism or pioneer spirit...

Of course they chose to rescue her. That was what she and her family were counting on, that if something goes wrong, the good will of many good people who come along and bail her out. It doesn’t make it right that they took advantage of their goodwill.
And nobody is against freedom, but there is no freedom without the responsibility that comes with it. She is free to try to sail the ocean, but she/her family should bear the responsibility of the consequences of that attempt, such as the cost of her rescue. When you take the freedom without the responsibility, that’s not freedom, that’s theft.
The family didn't "PUT" their daughter in anything. She was a cognizant part of the decision to attempt this feat. She didn't succeed, but she tried and deserves a great deal of credit for that. She made it a heck of a lot farther than the "adult" critics on this thread would have gone. And she certainly had the ability to make the trip.
And besides, who's daughter is she - the family's daughter or the government's daughter? Many here think that the state has higher authority than the family (including her). I disagree with that. If she'd have died, then the family would have to live with the consequences. It would be no skin off your back or mine, nor that of the government or society in general.
