GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) -- The White House said Monday BP appears willing to set up a massive victims compensation fund, as President Barack Obama set out on a fact-finding tour in the stricken Gulf Coast that he said would help him get tough with the oil company's leaders.
Spokesman Bill Burton, speaking to reporters traveling with Obama aboard Air Force One to the Gulf, said the White House and BP were "working out the particulars," such as the amount of the fund and how it will be administered.

Obama theme song should be titled “The BIG Charade”. Too bad that one’s taken.
Actually, he’s scouting golf courses...
I had to doubletake at the headline. I thought it said “takes in fourth round of golf.”
Robert Trent Jones golf trail runs through Bama. And barqy the first will be down there for 2 whole days “factfinding”. Or he could be checking for oil slicks in the water hazards.
Just how much new information does he learn on these trips, as opposed to receiving it in his office?
He just wants to look like he cares, on the taxpayer’s dime.
But the press ignored Bush’s trips to New Orleans, wile it will focus on these “mercy missions” of love and duty.....
Here's one a little off that 'trail' but a lot nearer me. It's only a 9 hole course though, so 'Bama won't likely show up...
Thank God for the new media, because the ass-kiss networks and print media aren't reporting the truth.
For 20 years there has been a LAW ON THE BOOKS about Oil Spills.
Hussein, start kicking your own miserable ass!
THE OIL POLLUTION ACT OF 1990 CHARGES THE WHITE HOUSE WITH CLEANING UP THE MESS. SO YOU HAVE FAILED BIG TIME, HUSSEIN!
OPA, among other things, amended Section 311 of the federal Clean Water Act. Section 311 now provides in part that: (A) If a discharge, or a substantial threat of a discharge, of oil or a hazardous substance from a vessel, offshore facility, or onshore facility is of such a size or character as to be a substantial threat to the public health or welfare of the United States (including but not limited to fish, shellfish, wildlife, other natural resources, and the public and private beaches and shorelines of the United States),
the President shall
(notice the word SHALL; not "MAY" not "CAN" not "PERHAPS", but SHALL!)
direct all Federal, State, and private actions to remove the discharge or to mitigate or prevent the threat of the discharge.
(B) In carrying out this paragraph, the President may, without regard to any other provision of law governing contracting procedures or employment of personnel by the Federal Government
(i) remove or arrange for the removal of the discharge, or mitigate or prevent the substantial threat of the discharge; and
(ii) remove and, if necessary, destroy a vessel discharging, or threatening to discharge, by whatever means are available.
P.S.: CNN reports that on the day of the memorial for the victims (a month after the explosion), HUSSEIN ATTENDED A FUNDRAISER. Nice move there, jerkoff. Real caring.
I hope he can work in 18 holes at English Turn. I hate to see him wasting his time talking to typical white people.
He be takin’ names and kickin’ ass. Leadership in action.
“He just wants to look like he cares, on the taxpayers dime.”
Of course. But if he didn’t everyone would be yelling “He didn’t even bother to go down there!!”. :)
Good point. :)
Unfortunately, you’re right. I am hearing about his trips to the Gulf on Ottawa talk radio news.
The gangsta prez has found another pass time, flying over he Gulf. Is his boyfriend Rahm flying with him?
Funny - when I first read the title I thought it said “takes first tour of Golf”.
I live in the gulfport area, flew over one coming in to land, betcha I know what HE was thinking.
By the way, we ain’t happy he is here.
Precisely what have the three previous trips yielded? Photo ops for 0bamao kneeling down looking concerned - nothing more. I hope the folks in the Gulf aren’t taken in by this worthless huckster!
OK, so Skippy is taking another photo op trip to the Gulf.
And? What is he gonna do to improve the situation? How about taking up the 17 offers of clean up aid from other countries?
Naw. That might actually solve the problem. And the crisis would end prematurely...
