In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas is at the table with the 10 remaining Big 12 schools working on a TV deal put forth by commissioner Dan Beebe that would hold the conference together.

Lol. Maybe when A&M and Arky are both ranked in the top 10 and have BCS title hopes riding on that game, then maybe it will be a biggie. And Jerry will put anybody in Jerryworld to get revenue.

I know what you mean. That’s all I ever sang when their frilly howdy-doody band with their cute little cow-girl hats struck up that goofy tune.

That’s my point. Jerry will make money. And considering the largest Razorback club in the world is in Dallas and Aggies will drive forever to a game, it will be sold out and on T.V. no matter what.

The Ketchum guy was back on Finebaum and seems to think it is a done deal. He also owns(?) the Orangebloods.com site and works at an ESPN radio station in Austin. He said a Big 12 North school AD had told him their school had been saved.

Texas still the big dog and would have the most revenue, especially with rights to launch its own network, as all schools could, but Texas would expect to make the most money from that.

And, Gene Stallings indicated today that the league might have been saved. Seems to be a done deal unless if falls through at the last minute, or unless this is some of the most inaccurate reporting ever.

True in today’s world — I agree it is a stretch. But for old timers there is something of a history.

The Texas network is a big deal; without it, I think Texas would leave, because the Pac10 was working on a big tv deal with Fox.

You might want to follow Chip Brown on Twitter; he's gives pretty up to date info on what's going on.

ESPN is now picking this up after staying with the PAC 10 story until a few minutes ago:

Still nothing official, though.

Boise State - Ah afraid not for Big 12.... TCU a more natural fit unless Arkansas were to bolt the SEC as some in Arkansas would like to see. I suspect you might be right with BYU but travel might be an issue for them....Houston - not probably!

CU won a B12 title?? must’ve missed that one....I know they won the B12 north with Barnett a few times and like most B12 North teams (except K-State at the start and NU last December) got a ceremonial butt kicking from the B12 South winner....

last time CU was truly competitive on a national level was as a member of the Big 8 when they beat Notre Dame for a share of the title in ‘91 Orange Bowl with Bill McCartney as the coach- I was at the game...

Big XII Title games (Colorado’s been to 4, beating Texas in 2001):

12/7/1996 Texas 37, Nebraska 27
12/6/1997 Nebraska 54, Texas A&M 15
12/5/1998 Texas A&M 36, Kansas St. 33
12/4/1999 Nebraska 22, Texas 6
12/2/2000 Oklahoma 27, Kansas St. 24
12/1/2001 Colorado 39, Texas 37
12/7/2002 Oklahoma 29, Colorado 7
12/6/2003 Kansas St. 35, Oklahoma 7
12/4/2004 Oklahoma 42, Colorado 3
12/3/2005 Texas 70, Colorado 3
12/2/2006 Oklahoma 21, Nebraska 7
12/1/2007 Oklahoma 38, Missouri 17
12/6/2008 Oklahoma 62, Missouri 21
12/5/2009 Texas 13, Nebraska 12

You’d think Texas would want to get away from Oklahoma.

I like the TCU call. Definitely right in the heart of Big 12 turf.

It was during the Chris Sims Suck era. Applewhite came in almost one that game.

With regard to the tv deal, supposedly Texas, OU, and A&M will each get 20m (not including the revenue Texas could make from its own network), and the other schools will get 14-17m.

If three more teams defect, they’ve already copyrighted “The Magnificent Seven.”

what has A&M done to deserve that amount of $$$???

then again I guess OSU and Mizzu have no recourse as they are screwed if the others defect....

Threaten to go to the SEC?

I am disappointed. I think the Pac16 would have been a great product: awesome tv deal from Fox (more money than espn is going to give), good football, good baseball, good basketball, and AWESOME cheerleaders (assuming A&M went to the SEC of course). The current product is much diminished, imho.

Um.....Nebraska losing to Texas, 13-12, on a last second FG after the refs put one second back on the clock does not amount to a “butt kicking” by Texas. Texas was damn lucky to win that BigXII championship game last Dec.

Oh, well, maybe you were watching a different game.
