Several points. First one. This fund for “all legitimate claims” is a SLUSH FUND. BP is being told to fund it, but there is no guarantee that they will agree. They’re under no court order to do so. So you have to ask, why would BP agree to pay into the SLUSH FUND? There has to be a quid pro quo here. My personal suspicion is that anyone who accepts money from the fund gives up their right to sue. Kind of like how workers comp works. And that also means that you give up the right to any punitive damages that juries in the LA, MS, AL and FL coastal counties might award.
While I realize that a lot of conservatives favor tort reform, if there was ever a situation that begged for punitive damages, this would be a top candidate.
So coastal residents will get the choice, under economic duress, to take the pittance now from the SLUSH FUND or sue and hope for something better later. IF they even get that choice. Why does this smell like a sweetheart deal?
Also, who will “independently” administer the SLUSH FUND? ACORN?

Mr.Obama is a pathological liar. He lied to the Nation once again. He refuses to face the fact that the leaks can not be stopped by conventional means. Only a controlled nuclear explosion will seal the leaks. But then why will He tell us the truth when He lies to Us about his name which is NOT Barack Obama.

That’s one of the problems with being “stockholder/owner” of a company. You get the problems, along with the profits ... one way or the other, depending on whether you made a good judgment in your purchase of stock or a bad judgment.
I think a lot of people are thinking, right now, that they made a really bad judgment in getting BP ...
Ummm..., I’m not going to even ask how they did that ... LOL ...

That's going to be a "tough go" for BP to do, especially when the CEO was just saying a few days ago that they had enough money to pay off the claims plus having BILLIONS of dollars left over ...

I just saw a FReeper today say that a friend of his was leaving Texas because of this and going north ... I was trying to find out if Tulsa, Oklahoma is far enough north... because that’s where I am.
We do get a lot of storms around here from the Gulf air masses colliding with Pacific air masses (and some down from Canada), in our neck of the woods. So, I don’t know about us either ...
