We're headed for a major collision at the intersection of Reality and Sob Story Journalism. To balance the budget, a whole lot of old/young/sick/infirm/down-on-their-luck people are no longer going to be receiving direct cash payments from the government as a reward for being alive and "voting right".
The weeping and gnashing of teeth is going to be horrendous, but the end result will be what it always is - an authoritarian future government (our own, or China might do it for us) killing off the expensive excess baggage. We can choose this future, or we can grow up...I'm not hopeful about the second option.
You're talking about a block of very reliable dem voters... they won't go down without a fight.
Did you intentionally leave out the Lazy Looters from this voting block? They make up at lest half of them, if not more.

I keep thinking the same thing. What party/politician is going to run on or have the metal to slash fedzilla by 50%? Not to mention the state/local messes. Makes me sad for our country.
I agree with that and with entitlements like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. already in the red the day of reckoning isn’t far away. It all goes back to what Margaret Thatcher said: “Socialism always fails because eventually it runs out of other people’s money.”
