Some Democrats, even in Arizona, are fearing an election backlash over immigration, as President Obama sues Arizona over its new immigration enforcement law and pushes Congress to pass a comprehensive immigration overhaul.
"My concern is that the federal government is suing the state of Arizona, ironically, over the ability to enforce immigration laws -- where if the federal government had been doing its job over the years, we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place," Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., said.
Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, the Democratic nominee for governor, urged the Obama administration to back off Arizona's new law, which allows state and local authorities to ask people for immigration documents during unrelated enforcement encounters such as traffic stops.
The president appears to be out of step with public opinion on immigration. The latest Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll shows 2-to-1 support nationwide for Arizona's law, including 73 percent of Republicans, 57 percent of independents and one out of three Democrats.

Here’s my scenario. Obummer declares Amnesty. In 2012, Hillary runs, the even though the Hispanic vote is tilted to Obummer, the rest of the votes tilt heavily against Odumbo, and he is history. He loses the Primary.
I am starting to think I might open a ‘Black Boot Polish’ store in Washington, franchise out......
But when you read closer Giffords like all the Arizona democrats go on to say Obama needs to do more to "fix" immigration, which is code for amnesty. There isn't anything broken about the system, the laws simply need to be enforced.
Agreed, it's nothing but self-serving babble coming from these democrats. What they've been doing the last two years is voting lock step with the Obama/Pelosi agenda and they're going to be held accountable.
Ping!

Some Democrats Fear Backlash Over Obama
Fixed.
It will cost the Dems 3 House seats they currently hold..
I have and will again vote for ANYBODY other than Gabrielle Giffords. One of the leading examples of the Peter Principle.
It is suing Arizona over what it claims is interference with federal laws but is ignoring sanctuary cities that not only refuse to enforce immigration laws, but they are openly protecting illegals from the federal immigration authorities.
My Democrat neighbors here in Florida are never voting Democrat again due to how they as seniors got the short end of the deal in healthcare and they also do not like his immigration stance. They see he is not helping the economy as well. I gave the wife “Liberty and Tyranny” by Mark Levin so they have some clue as to what is happening and their son wanted to read it. The wife told me “None of the Republicans voted for the healthcare bill so I am voting Republican next time.” She likes Marco Rubio. These people have been LIFE LONG DEMOCRATS AND THEY WILL NEVER VOTE FOR THEM AGAIN.
Her seat is rated a toss-up..and that’s before any polls taken after the immigration bill became a hot button issue...I think she looses 55-45..
“I am starting to think I might open a Black Boot Polish store in Washington, franchise out......”
That will be one of the few businesses that does really well during the Obama recession.
“Her seat is rated a toss-up..and thats before any polls taken after the immigration bill became a hot button issue...I think she looses 55-45..”
She voted for Obamacare too, I believe. Her opponent needs to pounce on that.
Thanks for the info. I have been on the road for the DOD and haven’t kept up. Would you know who the Republican candidate is, or is that still dependent on the primaries?
See? We got something going, I sell the boots and you sell the polish....
The problem is, it can get worse and I hope it will get worse for the Dems.
Say the courts rules for Arizona and the Feds then appeals the case which would very likely happen.
The Gubmint is unwise for suing another government over a POPULAR law.
But they really look out of touch when they are not only going against the will of the people, but going against the judiciary as well.
Giffords is a far out lefty in a tight race to save her miserable behind in November, thus the apparent 'conservative' position. Don't fall for her.
Democrats best fear their leader. He will throw all of them under the bus if they get in his way.
I feel some truly Shakespearean events are about to transpire then...
