Obama: Israelis suspicious of me because my middle name is Hussein

During the interview Wednesday, when confronted with the anxiety that some Israelis feel toward him, Obama said that "some of it may just be the fact that my middle name is Hussein, and that creates suspicion."

"Ironically, I've got a Chief of Staff named Rahm Israel Emmanuel. My top political advisor is somebody who is a descendent of Holocaust survivors. My closeness to the Jewish American community was probably what propelled me to the U.S. Senate," Obama said.

Alan Keyes. Great guy, but worst candidate ever.

Yeah, right. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he slams Israel at every opportunity, that he treated Israel's Prime Ministry with complete disdain, that he openly accepts as truth the propaganda spewed out by the Palestinians regarding Israel's supposed “genocide”, “aggression”, and “deprival of Palestinian civil rights”

I think the Israelis are suspicious of him because he can’t string together more than two coherent thoughts at at time.

And even that taxes him.

His middle name could be Earl and we would still be suspicious.

Well played! I'm actually holding the name Earl in (slightly, ever so slightly) higher regard than before Hussein came to power. ;)

On August 8, 2004 – with 86 days to go before the general election – the Illinois Republican Party drafted Alan Keyes to run against Democratic Illinois Senate member and future President of The United States Barack Obama for the U.S. Senate, after the Republican nominee, Jack Ryan, withdrew due to a sex scandal, and other potential draftees (most notably former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka) declined to run.

The Washington Post called Keyes a "carpetbagger"[44] since he "had never lived in Illinois."[45][46] When asked to answer charges of carpetbagging in the context of his earlier criticism of Hillary Clinton, he called her campaign "pure and planned selfish ambition", but stated that in his case he felt a moral obligation to run after being asked to by the state GOP. "You are doing what you believe to be required by your respect for God's will, and I think that that's what I'm doing in Illinois".

Alan came into the campaign at the last minute, with no local political relationships, no local name recognition and really, no chance of defeating Barry O.

It wasn't Alan's fault at all.

The circumstances of Keyes’ candidacy have no bearing. He ran a stupid campaign and made every ridiculous claim possible. He came across looking like a total idiot, and ended up a disaster. Did they ever find the misappropriated funds from his prior presidential campaign? He is just as scandalous as any Democrat.

Really? You can’t possibly be serious or taken serious.

Keyes campaign was doomed the day he announced and was a long shot at best.

How the heck does one launch a campaign, much less successfully, with less than 90 days until voting day?

He didn’t look polished because he hadn’t considered running some 6 months before the season and really would have needed 9 months and then we wouldn’t have this travesty.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Jack Ryan.

I mean WTF? You cheated on your wife or went to some sex clubs with her in Europe?

And Barry O.’s team got your divorce records opened? So now it’s all there anyway and you quit?

Really? Really? Really?

I couldn’t care less what two consenting adults do and with the Ted Kennedy’s, Charlie Rangel, Barney Frank, et all, out there he could have just moved on and kept the conversation only on his record and ideas.

Blame Barry, who twice found a way to disqualify his opposition.

Blame Jack Ryan, who didn’t feel shame in his lifestyle unitl it was exposed and then felt so awful - He quit.

Jack Ryan had plenty of time to run a campaign.

Jack Ryan had name recognition.

Jack Ryan was familiar with the issues.

No, I blame Jack Ryan and Barry.
