As voter intimidation exercises go, it wasnt much. In 2008, a lone voter reported he had encountered two men dressed all in black, one carrying a nightstick, at his Philadelphia polling place in a predominantly black neighborhood. The man was escorted away by police and no one reported the incident to the local district attorney. But the incident was caught on camera, making it great fodder for cable news, because political campaigns were actively scouting for voter intimidation cases they could use against opponents. Still, it seemed like the sort of incident that happens at dozens of polling places every election day, then quietly recedes.
Twenty-one months later, though, right-wing bloggers can't get enough of the story, and it's starting to make it into the mainstream press. Even Sarah Palin has joined the act, tweeting: "Watch FOX's Megyn Kelly on Black Panther voter intimidation case; she knows the case; she's speaking truth; her revelations leave Left steaming."
So how did the incident become a replay of the ACORN scandal? There's some resemblance between the two: an organization with unacceptable practices and a vague connection to the Obama administration (through voter registration drives in the ACORN case and Justice Department litigation in the Panther case) becomes a tool for critics of the White House to attack it as corrupt and illegitimate. But as in the ACORN case, the scandal is minimal (much of the ACORN hit has been discredited)and the allegations against Obama flimsy.
(snip)
Like the ACORN case, it's not about a real investigation: it's about staging an effective piece of political theater that hurts the Obama administration.

Meet the new ACORN...same as the old ACORN...
The songs write themselves...
“...wasn’t much...”
Bull Obama.
You libs are past funny - and rapidly approaching irrelevance.
THe “important networks” get to decide whats important news. Thats the bottom line. Everyone else, esp. Fox be damned!
Has Newsweek found a buyer yet?
The MSM mantra defending tyranny continues-because they know nothing else.
“(much of the ACORN hit has been discredited)....”
I guess I missed where this happened.
The New Black Panther Party is the Ku Klux Klan of the 21st Century.
Same Klan rhetoric, same Klan threats of violence, same Klan intimidation tactics, same Klan Democratic Party....
They are, actually. Anti-American, anti-voting rights, criminal, Marxist retards.
No suck...., er,............... buyers have come forward, yet..........................

Well, at least all of us who were wondering where Kristen Powers gets her facts can point to her source. This jerk is a complete moron.
Tell me, would the media have been so complacent had it been two WHITE guys with KKK tatooed on their arms holding nightsticks?
It would seem that David A. Graham (Cracker) is willing to breezily dismiss death threats against people whose political opinions he disdains and to excuse the presence of bat-wielding thugs at a polling station because they only threatened Whitey. Even a dying liberal news magazine can do better than this.
People can’t get enough of the story because nothing was done about the incident. The President didn’t even weigh in on it. Any...........ANY..........voter intimidation must be brought out in the open and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Can you imagine what would have happened if white men, in military type uniforms, did exactly the same thing? Those men would be in prison by now and the President would have been in front of the cameras everyday talking about it.
Thank you - that explains a great deal.
Except we don't have video of that...
More of the entrenched Clintonian era Leftist defense strategy.
[. . .a lone voter reported he had encountered two men dressed all in black, one carrying a nightstick. . .]
At least two people reported being confronted by armed Panthers—the guy with the phone camera and a retired attorney who worked for Bobby Kennedy and Teddy Kennedy. The DOJ had enough evidence to bring a case and win it. The “reporter” blatantly lies in the second sentence.
“Still, it seemed like the sort of incident that happens at dozens of polling places every election day, “
Hahahahahahahahaha
God I hate all the Communists at Newsweak .......
Wasn't there an incident during W's term in which a police car was parked in front of, or near, an (urban) polling place, and this was claimed to be "voter intimidation" by the usual suspects? Someone help me out here.
