TAIPEI, Taiwan (July 14) -- A video of a plainclothes policewoman shooting dead a hostage-taker in Guangzhou has sparked sharp debate among the Chinese about how far police should go in dealing with higher crime rates.

Some are disturbed that the cop shot the hostage-taker four times, killing him, even though he appeared to have been taken out of action by the first shot and was armed only with a pair of scissors.

But others are celebrating her as a hero.

Looks like an excellent job to me.

The hostage appeared to be bloody from the scissors in the early part of the video.

The guy was way too exposed, and the officer did a good job, imo.

"If we didn't use force, there was no way to guarantee the hostage's safety," she said, according to the Tianxue report.

Nice work!

The trash got taken out.

and that “officer” who shot the perp was a chick. No problem at all with the follow up shots, but the libtards will drop every excuse in the book as expected.

Much appreciate the video link. Thanks. Not sure the “graphic” warning was necessary but I suppose it could have touched on some people’s sensitivities.

If he’s worth shooting once, he’s worth shooting four times.

Most folks think that one shot is all it takes to stop a person, when that’s far from the truth most of the time, even with a heavy caliber gun.

This officer was using a small caliber gun for concealment purposes. She did just what she should have done.

I understand why the Chinese are upset about this. In China you take the criminal out into the Mongolian desert and shoot him in the back of the head.

And you don’t know what drugs people are on these days. If they want to blame someone then blame all the dope addicts.

Come to think of it, it looked like he needed and awful lot of water. Something was going on with him.

If it becomes necessary to shoot someone, lock your elbows and keep shooting until he falls down. If he is armed with scissors, don’t go get yours to even things up or you’ll likely find yourself dead.

I think what is most amazing is that the Chinese government actually cares what the Chinese people think.

She had no idea if the first shot stopped him, and the victim was still in danger: her only responsible course of action was to keep shooting.

That was a perfect take down.
