Yes, it's confusing to laymen who don't understand the various interactions and the difference between forcings, feedbacks, and effects, and the way something can act as a forcing in one instance, but can also be an effect in another. In this case, however, I wouldn't refer to the theory so much as focus on the hypotheses of why these results developed.

So you're saying that "carbon dioxide content increase" is equal to "global warming"? (They say the former and you say the latter.)
