Minnick Rejects Support of Tea Party Express Over Racial Letter
The Idaho Reporter ^ | Monday, July 19, 2010 | Dustin Hurst

Posted on 07/19/2010 2:31:01 PM PDT by kristinn

The Tea Party Express, one of the national voices of the Tea Party movement, created some political shockwaves when it endorsed Democrat Walt Minnick for re-election earlier this year, the only Democrat the group threw its support behind. Now the group is coming under fire for racial content in a recent fictional letter penned by its spokesman. The man responsible for the letter says it was meant to provoke discussion after the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) condemned elements of the Tea Party movement as racist. Minnick sent a letter Monday condemning the Tea Party Express for its failure to rebuke the man behind the letter and declined the support from the group.

In the end, Minnick said, he didn’t want to be associated with the group if it wouldn’t rebuke Williams. “Instead, the Tea Party Express has apparently decided to stand by Mr. Williams and support him in his own contention that he did nothing wrong. I cannot agree with that course of action. Since the Tea Party Express refuses to reject and rebuke Mr. Williams, I have no choice but to decline your endorsement,” Minnick wrote. “I thank you very sincerely for your kind words about my work as a Congressman, and hope that your group can see the error of its ways.”

News sites reining in nasty user comments

The first black President being elected shows racism wasn't an issue. First off, "the typical white woman" Obama describes of his grandmother. Holder ignoring intimidation by a black panther leader at the polling booth, blue-eyed cracker babies, Michelle's NAACP speech comparing black children with white children.. where everything is about color with these people..ongoing selective oratory racism to fuel violence by pushing the public's buttons. Arizona under attack by Obama and Holder. The construction of a mosque at Ground Zero? Recruit the young & angry to violence, a revolution.

Immediate Focus on the Tea Party & Palin and November.

It doesn’t matter. Walt probably shouldn’t be signing any long-term leases in DC.

I hope you don't mean the one that said the NAACP was a racist organization. Because they are, and that would make you stupid for siding with them.

This:

"Dear Mr. Lincoln,

We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!

Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn’t that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us Coloreds."

...is stupid.

“This:...is stupid.”

Why? If one reasons backward from the actions of the race-hustling poverty pimps, that is exactly where one arrives.

I have one question: Does the “We Coloreds” in this charming witticism include Dr. Thomas Sowell or any one of the millions of black people who work hard for what they have and don’t feel ‘entitled to a handout’?

Why do you have that question? What possible indication is there that it would?

Because the statement "We Coloreds" is completely unqualified, thus meaning "everyone one of us who is black." Are you truly not understanding that painting an entire race with the broadest possible brush is, by definition, racist?

Really?

“the only Democrat the group threw its support behind.”

Who writes this crap?

“Because the statement “We Coloreds” is completely unqualified, thus meaning “everyone one of us who is black.”

Road apples. Only the most simple-minded misinterpretation of the passage could allow a person to think that. He is clearly speaking from the standpoint of (to repeat myself) race-hustling poverty pimps like Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who claim to speak for all melanin-rich persons in the US, but certainly do not.

“Are you truly not understanding that painting an entire race with the broadest possible brush is, by definition, racist?”

(1) When it is satire, NO IT IS NOT. Can you hear me now? It could only be racism if the speaker had racism in his heart, and was expressing it. Every indication is to the contrary.

(2) This whole “racism is worse than anything” crap has gone way too far.

Even if you were right about this matter, which you are not, it would still not justify this level of outrage—or, on the left, faux outrage.

All the left has to do is seize on the slightest pretext to howl “racism,” however bogus it might be, and non-leftists trample each other in their eagerness to form a circular firing squad.

Are you truly not understanding how the left paints everyone who opposes them as racist, then uses crap like this to jerk us around?

Are you truly not understanding how little standing they have to accuse anyone else of racism, given their radical committment to (a) the soft racism of low expectations; and (b) outright, outspoken bigotry toward whites?

We must stop ceding these battles to the forces of evil. Unless there is *real* racism, our only response to such complaints from demonrats should be “KMA.”
