Border Authorities Uncover A Cache of Weapons Inside A Vehicle At A Checkpoint Near San Ysidro July 19, 2010 Border authorities inspecting cars heading into Mexico on Saturday discovered a cache of ammunition and weapons, including five machine guns, hidden inside a Nissan, according to officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.

Also concealed inside the speaker box of the vehicle were two handguns, dozens of rounds of ammunition and tactical gear. The weapons were discovered at a checkpoint on Interstate 5 at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, just north of the U.S.-Mexico border. The driver, a 19-year-old man whose identity was not disclosed, was arrested, authorities said.

The inspections are part of an effort by the federal government to curtail the flow of weapons and money fueling the drug war in Mexico.

"there’s simply no supply of machine guns in this country."

Yes there is, but you are probably not on the list of those who need to know where it is and how to requisition them.

>>Guarantee you that these were not machine guns and that the LA Times is simply lying.<<

Next time, read the article before you go guaranteeing anything. IF CBP say there was MGs then I’ll bet they were there.

I’m so envious of his guns that he got confiscated. I’ve been saving up to get an SA43 for a while now. I love belt fed’s.

including five machine guns, hidden inside a Nissan, according to officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency

Which of course were purchased at Gun Shows in California. ;)

Heck even DoD contractors in CA need hard to obtain special permits to even think about firing full auto weapons. Which has caused some issues with testing devices designed to be mounted on such weapons. In one case they used Hollyweird rifles, which use different blanks(lots more flash), and a different method of keeping the gas pressure high enough to cycle the weapon. Needless to say, tuning the devices to detect firing of such Hollyweird weapons resulted in none optimum operation, read FAILURE, when the devices were mounted on real M-16s, M4s, etc.
