The body of Pfc. Nathaniel Douglas Garvin, 20, will return to the area this morning as he is brought from Fort Knox to Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove.
Garvin, a Hodgenville resident and formerly of Hardin County, was killed last Monday in Afghanistan.
His body is expected to arrive at Fort Knox at 9:30 a.m. Area residents are encouraged to line the streets along the route to the funeral home to show their support.
The route to the funeral home will be from Fort Knox down Dixie Boulevard to Lincoln Trail Boulevard, a right onto Ky. 313, a left onto Ky. 144 and a right at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home.
Garvin is expected to arrive at the funeral home around 10:15 a.m.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday. The funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Stithton Baptist Church in Radcliff with burial with full military honors in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
The local media seemed to shun the arrival. I saw one television crew from Louisville. I understand the need for privacy, but there were many who could not be there and would like to have the opportunity to see the ceremony. Of course the Patriot Guard was present. Those folks are wonderful.
My hat is off to the soldiers of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. Very professional! Makes this old soldier proud to know we have these young herors defending us.
Salute to this good soldier and prayers to his family.
SLB: Thank you for being there and reporting of his homecoming.
So Sad...I hope he wasnt a victim of Obamas rules of engagement.....Thank you for your sacrifice soldier...
May God bless and keep this brave hero, and give support and comfort to his family. We will never forget.

...
I attended a military funeral procession just last week. Never met the guy, a complete stranger. Very moving experience. God bless Mr. Garvin and his family.

Welcome home trooper, RIP and may God rest your soul, while His Spirit comforts and keeps your young family. May we all remember you for the hero you are who gave the last full measure for our safety, and our freedom, and our well being. God bless Pfc. Nathaniel Douglas Garvin.
Salute to this brave warrior. Prayers and thoughts for comfort to his grieving family. This nation mourns your loss.
“The local media seemed to shun the arrival.”
The MSM has pulled the ‘off’ switch on any coverage of the war. With Dubya gone, it serves no purpose, and could only remind the public that the Annointed One is mishandling it.
RIP
Pfc Nathaniel Douglas Garvin, USA
