The Unpresidential President Barack Obama has managed a rare feat: The longer he holds office, the more he diminishes in stature.
BY JAMES W. CEASER August 2, 2010 From charisma to populismthis is the slippery slope down which Barack Obama has been sliding over the past two years. In June 2008, Obama the candidate described his nomination as the moment when our planet began to heal. In June 2010, Obama the president promised his partisans he would find an ass to kick.
With the peculiar magic of his presidential campaign now a faded memory, Obama is shoring up support by the cruder method of divisive appeals. Long before the current (already hugely extended) campaign season began, Obama made it a practice to target opposition symbols (the insurance industry, speculators, a bunch of fat cat bankers on Wall Street, the oil companies), call out and assail individual opponents (Rush Limbaugh, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner), and refer disparagingly to the Tea Party movement and Republicans in general (this crowd). More than a half-year before the midterm elections, he tried to revive his electoral base of young people, African Americans, Latinos, and women by taking a page from Al Gores 2000 campaign and embracing the shop-worn slogan, I wont stop fighting for you.
An ass-thumping president frantically fighting for the little guyits hard to imagine George Washington or Abraham Lincoln choosing to project an image of this kind. Barack Obama has managed a rare feat in American history: The longer he is president, the less presidential he has become. Obama has reversed the usual process of growth and maturation, appearing today far more like a candidate for the presidencyand a very ordinary one at thatthan he did during the latter stages of his campaign.

The Kenyan has never been ‘presidential’.
It’s like a horrible nightmare.
Our President is an outright punk.
A *great* article! And oddly “empty,” in that we already know almost everything in it. I’ve only one tiny disagreement with the author: BHO retains little or no respect or “charisma” among world leaders. Some, most prominently Putin, “like” our “Present” because they can roll him over and enjoy him time and again, but no one respects an easy squeeze. While trying to pit Americans against his “villain of the week,” Hussein tries to pit the world against America. This pleases some world leaders, but again, no one respects a boot-licking traitor to his nation. [Is America his nation?] Finally, recall Charles Krauthammer’s early recognition that Hussein suffers from pathological narcissism, and can’t ever grow up. No one respects Peter Pan, however cute he seems.
maybe this is to remind the rest of us that we are just lowly subjects.
“The Unpresidential President”
You mean the guy that flips everyone the bird???
FReepers: time to have some fun and keep a few YouTube videos of Fearless Leader so that you can forward some to your friends:
A few amusing samples from the “most intelligent” Chicago Thug in Washington DC:
“This week there was a terrible tragedy in Kansas, 10,000 people died in a tornado, an entire town destroyed.”

Or take a vacation. Or play some golf. Or have a big bash for his friends. Or go out for some ice cream. Or take a vacation...
Regards,
What the hell does anyone expect from a community organizer with NO EXPERIENCE! The package was pretty on the outside until we found out what was on the inside. Elections have consequences and a voter suffering from American Idol withdrawl is as stupid as they come. Educate yourself for godsake
What an idiot. Obama needs to be impeached, tried for treason and brought to justice.
Why not.
He can use American Tax unlimited.
I refuse to accept the premise that he was “high up” and has now “fallen”. This man, with his total lack of experience and total lack of credentials, was at gutter height when he was elected. What is falling are expectations of the stupid people who believed the premise. And if The Weekly Standard bought the premise ... then that says something about them, doesn’t it? My “expectations” of this man have been fulfilled.
Stories like these allow the inside the beltway republican leaders to sit on their duff and do nothing- they don't propose bills to cut spending - they spend a little less, than a democrat, while growing the government to help their friends. It does not help us and unless a true take the government back group get inside - takes over the leadership -these types of stories will be the back bone for bigger not less government...they are the warm water of the frog.
Physicaly only
Well said. Had if not been the fawning MSM, this thug would never had been elected even to the US Senate- where by the way his election was an event of sheer accidents.
