Colorado Governor: Tancredo’s Entry Splits GOP Vote
Rasmussen ^

Posted on 08/03/2010 10:08:34 AM PDT by Chet 99

Tom Tancredo’s entrance into the Colorado governor’s race cuts substantially into support for the two Republican hopefuls and gives Democrat John Hickenlooper a double-digit lead. But overall support for Hickenlooper remains where it’s been for months.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Colorado finds Hickenlooper with 43% support against embattled GOP contender Scott McInnis who picks up 25% of the vote. Tancredo, a former Republican congressman running on the Constitution Party ticket, gets 24%.

If businessman Dan Maes is the Republican in the race, Hickenlooper leads with 42% to Maes’ 27% and Tancredo’s 24%.

Tancredo peels away one-third of the GOP vote no matter which Republican candidate he faces. Hickenlooper and Tancredo each pick up about one-third of voters not affiliated with either major party, while McInnis and Maes earn about 20% of that vote.

If Maes is not a RINO then what have you to say regarding the points made on his positions by National Review? They seem to haver either done a smear job on him or did a fine job of detailing positions and comments that are apostate to true conservatives.

Oh, OK...so National Review is your Bible. I prefer American Spectator. Do you even live here? BTW...one of TancrEGO’s low-level staffers attacked me with an e-mail after I sent a message to him about him ruining Colorado. Sure, that’s the way to get vote, NOT!

As I said in my e-mail response...LET’S COMPARE TANCREDO TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WHO STEAL THERE WAY INTO THE COUNTRY VS. THE PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW THE RULES. Maes followed the rules. McInnis followed the rules. TancrEGO did not and now wants to steal an election he is not working for...HE CANNOT WIN. There is not enough momentum. He will simply split the vote and give the election to Hick. He could have entered the race properly early on but didn’t.

Calm down. We are all in the same boat, let’s row in the same direction. Actually, my Bible is the KJV. I merely pointed out that NRO made some prescient points on Maes regarding less than conservative positions and comments of his and instead of addressing them you launch an ad homenim attack. Either manage the discussion using reason and facts, or launch into a liberal like emotional tirade. Your choice. Your emotional lashing has not advanced your position a single inch as far as convincing anybody on this thread that Maes is not the RINO that has been documented by respected conservatice journalism. To the contrary, your position is now weakened. Either refute with facts and logic or flail away with emotion. Your choice.

OK...here’s a thought. When I sent an e-mail suggesting Tancredo not create the upset as he has not followed the rules, some byotch at his campaign started harassing me through e-mail until I threatened to press charges. She had the gall to tell me I wasn’t a real republican or conservative. In the meantime, she posted that being a Colorado Republican was an embarrasement and that she wasn’t one anymore. I pointed out to her that if she isn’t a republican then neither is crying whiny tommy and that he is a fraud. This has nothing to do with being “emotional” as you put it. As far as Maes being a RINO, different conservative mags have different opinions. What makes your NRO more credible than what I read? It is all opinion. Whiny Tom is a career politician. Why not have a fresh face who has worked in the private sector? Say what you want but Maes is grassroots representation. I am sick of people like TT. The GOP here is lousy. The national GOP is lousy. They have plenty of time to come up with their own candidate they prefer and they DON’T. Meanwhile myself and other Coloradoan’s voted Maes. The party should unite behind who we chose, not give him the cold shoulder and have tommy boy johnny-come-lately ruin everything. You want facts, then learn how to read. Oh, you are reading? Oh, but its what YOU want to hear or see. So, stay in your bubble. I live here and don’t want tancredo doing this. He can run again in 4 years if Maes screws up. That is better than handing the governorship to Hick. Also, you talk about facts...Tancredo is untrustworthy, was a creep in D.C. has more black marks on his political soul...why should anyone trust him? Ask him how much Hick is paying him to carve up the race to we have sanctuary city hell at the hands of Hick. For the rotten way tancs campaign treated me is part and party to his arrogance to anyone who disagrees with him. THAT REASON ALONE IS ENOUGH FOR ME TO NEVER VOTE FOR HIM. He is a sneaky little liar and thin-skinned to boot...so are the people working for him.

Oh, one more thing. I get really tired of the line that just because I can’t stand TancrEGO, I am somehow a liberal or democrat. Grow up. Conservatives are differing all over the place. I am not willing to tow the party line because of problems with my long-term elected REPUBLICAN reps. And don’t speak to me condescendingly about managing a discussion. In fact, your whole post back to me has little else to say about my comments. I am free to have them about any candidate I choose and right now I say there is something evil about Tancredo and he is about to screw Colorado. That is my first concern. Again...he is like an illegal. Showing up expecting something for nothing...everyone else followed the rules and got their candidacies filed properly. Maes won. Now, Mr. Rulebreaker want to steal an election he has no chance of winning. What do you say about a candidate like him who does this knowing he can’t win? He is like Obama...he knows people want Maes...at least the primary showed that and he can’t stand it. He has to ruin it. Doesn’t care about the will of the people...just like Obama and we won’t get a Republican governor and that a$$ will have the unmitigated gall to blame Maes for not dropping out. That’s pretty sick. That’s a career politician. All the ideas Tanc has are national issues, not STATE ISSUES. Let him go back to the fed gov. and be part of the mess there again. He costs us this election, we won’t ever forget while we are stewing in Hick’s liberal swill.

“I get really tired of the line that just because I can’t stand TancrEGO, I am somehow a liberal or democrat. Grow up.” I never said anything like that to you. You’re still ranting.

“In fact, your whole post back to me has little else to say about my comments.” That’s because, as I stated, there were NO facts in your rant for me to respond to. You only spewed rage and opinion.

I understand your anger and frustration. It’s Perot all over again. The Colorado GOP needs to get their house in order. All I was pointing out was that legitimate conservative pundits have pointed out Maes less than conservative positions on key issues that made him a weak candidate from a conservative position. As I said prior, we are all in the same boat, let’s row in the same direction. Perhaps if Maes were to start talking up conservative position he can make Tancredo irrelevant.

As far as Tancredo breaking the rules, he appears to be operating completely within Colorado’s electoral laws and has secured a place on the ballot through a third party candidacy. It’s a crappy thing to do, but it is not breaking any rules.

You should not have to take that type of abuse on this forum. I’m all for vigorous debate, but personal abuse is uncalled for. I think you should forward the communications to the moderator so thay can address it.

“The GOP problem is not Tancredo....its running weak Liberal RINO candidates.”

Was Tancredo forbidden to run in the primary? If not, it’s his fault he didn’t win the GOP nomination. If he had any decency he would get out now and drop this vanity-temper tantrum.
