Evidently they feel a little uneasy, a little vulnerable, a little guilty?

Proverbs 28:1
The wicked man flees though no-one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

I beleive a reading below zero on the giveash!tmeter means you are actually taking sh!t, which is obviously bad.

On a side note, I think it's cool that meter has pi marked out on it.

"A realistic national debate would center on discussing amnesty or a special "path to citizenship" for only the first three categories"

Tell you what. How about no "path to citizenship". How about after the border is secure, we offer temporary guest worker passes for those who have work. I'd also like to see restrictions on type of work and limits on percentage of workforce that is imported.

The reason why is this. VERY VERY few Illegals WANT citizenship. They do not come here yearning for citizenship, they come here for money. Some work for it, some don't. Those that want that "path to citizenship" wont be hard to find. They are the ones that have probably filed at least a cursory paperwork for SS numbers etc.

You’re right, of course. But the “open borders” crowd controls the enemedia with their endless parade of sob stories. This is why I advocate changing the debate so it is not us denying poor Jose, who rides a bus two hours to school one way, lives in a shack with 12 siblings and even speaks good English a “path to citizenship.” It is they, who insist that Raoul, a gang banger who deals drugs and whacks people, be able to piggy-back on Jose’s accomplishments.

I thought the same thing - what metered reading would care about Pi?

I would disagree with that assessment. I have not heard from any pro Illegal, no matter how looney, that violent criminals be included in "comprehensive (amnesty) reform".

The beauty of issuing temp guest worker docs is that it removes the amnesty stink from the debate.

See my post #33 for an actual list of senators who voted against excluding this element last time it was put to an up and down vote. Only Kyl's vote was a parliamentary maneuver to allow him to bring it back for later consideration.

The remainder either think it is a good idea to include gang bangers and criminals in on amnesty or are simply too afraid to stand up against the race hustlers at La Raza, MALDEF and Mecha on what should be a no brainer.

If there is any explanation other than these two, I have yet to hear it.

Close, but not quite. That just allowed those in question to pursue "legal status". It did not deem them eligible for that status.

It's possible the impression was the amendment was too far reaching, it did include some considerably lessor crimes.

Given the history of the open borders lobby and its race-based enablers, do you honestly think there would be any practical distinction between making them eligible for legalization and actually granting said legalization at some point?

The Cornyn Amendment is available on-line for all to review, even our glorious senators who are too busy to actually read what they are supposed to vote on. It is not far reaching at all. It basically only excludes those in categories 7 and 8.

The few of them who offered excuses as to why they would vote down such a sensible amendment offered such banal trivialities as "It was only a delaying tactic by the minority party to sidetrack important legislation." Doesn't that sound awfully similar to the excuses offered when they successfully ramrodded ObamaCare on us?

First let me apologize. I meant to say 'qualified' not "eligible". By not barring them they could be "eligible".

"It basically only excludes those in categories 7 and 8"

It appears to go well beyond that. In 2007 there were many more afraid of appearing not PC. Even McCain wouldn't vote that way today.

Without reading the text the amendment would have replaced it's hard to get a good hold on intentions.

Help Texas watch her borders.
Watch live on 14 cameras and report illegal alien invaders.
Night cams in operation

http://www.blueservo.net/index.php?error=nlg

Does it work? Yes.
Recently caught on cam and reported:
String of illegals running through brush with backpacks
Numerous sightings of boats crossing the river
Numerous vehicles late at night in isolated areas
IMMENSELY satisfying.

"That's not true," says the husband, who's worked his way up from manual labor to an office job for a jeweler. "Americans are lazy. They don't want to work." But then, he catches himself -- and corrects himself. "I shouldn't say that," he says. "They're not all like that, but some are. They're spoiled. They think it's easy to come to the United States legally, and they speak from ignorance."

What a bigoted, ignorant, racist, Nazi-like piece of garbage. That filthy subhuman piece of trash is not worthy to breathe American air. Hell, he's not even worthy to breathe Mexican air, and that's saying a lot.

The politically correct, Goebbels-like media stereotype illegals as hard-working, which is complete and utter BS. Illegal aliens - ALL of them, every last man, woman, and child - are lazy, worthless vermin who just want to collect a check from Uncle Sam for doing nothing. They often fake being disabled to get their government money. That shows how low those filth will sink. There are NO "good" illegal aliens. To try to say there are would be like trying to pretend there are "good" Nazis. Illegals are disgusting and evil leeches and parasites who get welfare, Social Security, free housing, free tuition, free health care, etc. at our expense, and never pay one single cent in taxes themselves.

To clarify my earlier statement...this turd could be worthy to breathe Mexico's air...if he breathes Mexico City's polluted air, gets lung cancer, and dies the slow and painful death he deserves. Read his hate-filled, racist, anti-American comments again. Anyone that bigoted is truly Life Unworthy of Life.
