Robert Gibbs: 'I don't plan on leaving'
By: Matt Negrin August 11, 2010 03:30 PM EDT
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, revisiting a newspaper interview in which he blasted the professional left for criticizing President Barack Obama, brushed off calls for his resignation during Wednesdays daily briefing, and said his remarks were the result of frustration with pundits who havent given the administration its due.
"I dont plan on leaving, and there's no truth to the rumor that I've added an inflatable exit to my office," he quipped to reporters, a reference to the frustrated Jet Blue flight attendant who left his job by swearing at passengers and jumping down the jetliners emergency slide. Gibbs said he "couldve said things slightly differently" during the interview, but he did not apologize for his remarks, which triggered an angry outburst among Obamas allies in print, on cable news channels and in the blogosphere.
"I watch a lot of cable TV, and you dont have to watch long to get frustrated by some of what's said, and I think thats what that answer was born out of," he said.
In an interview with The Hills Sam Youngman published Tuesday, Gibbs said liberals who have relentlessly criticized Obama for what they see as compromises and unkept promises such as the lack of a single-payer system in the sweeping health-care overhaul and the addition of 30,000 troops to the war in Afghanistan would rather complain than give the president his due for a long list of favorable accomplishments. Those critics, Gibbs said, "will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we've eliminated the Pentagon. That's not reality."

LOL. That’s song is already playing in my head, and I hate it.
LOL. That’s song is already playing in my head, and I hate it.(yes, I clicked to it too).
Gibbs is like that annoying kid on the school playground that says:
Wanna play with me? Wanna play with me? Wanna play with me? and follows you around like a lap dog!
Only in Washington is it a gaffe when someone states the truth.
Exactly... I think Gibbs is the perfect guy for this job in this administration.
You can get that song out of your head by thinking of one that you hate more. Works every time.
“I am 48 years old and have never seen a bigger idiot in Washington than this guy. Something about him makes me wanna
puke.
I think lying, pandering, and being so out of touch with reality is what does it.”
Who are you referring to - Gibbs or O’bummer?

Wonder if one day he’ll lose his temper at the press, b1tch and moan about being picked on, and storm out.
Good old Robert Gibbels. Obama Propaganda Director.
9,999 gratuitous insults against conservatives and nobody complains, but 1 insult against the left, and they’re screaming for his resignation.
Hey Fibbs, that might work if you were a black congress person but you are a white guy and you just pissed off your own team.
Buh bye.
I hope Gibbs stays. He reminds me of Bozo the Clown.
Folks who say, “I don’t plan on leaving” are leaving.
Exactly. All it’s going to take now is for 0 to say that he has 100% confidence in Gibbs.
Gone the next day.
I hope his affairs are in order, his will is up to date and his wishes for final arrangements have been made clear to next of kin. Of course, they probably will never find the body.
Knowing these creeps and their fixation on playing every card in the deck to win the November elections, I wouldn’t put it past them to plan this. Gibbs’s remarks will be remembered, and it will shore up the far-left part of the base when he leaves and becomes a sympathetic figure.
Convoluted? Yes. Possible? Definitely! They want those Canadian health care proponents and would-be Pentagon destroyers to vote!
0baMao's friends and employees never do.
He can share a desk with Charles Rangel.
In an administration of incompetents, Gibbs departure would not be missed among the pond scum.
