Her name is Anne Northup, not Ann Northrup. She held the seat for a decade (”horrible candidate”?) despite having everything including the kitchen sink thrown at her each and every race, and the in the election preceding the one with Yarmuth she got over 60% of the vote. All of Northup’s ads were not negative. Although, her heart was not really in the last half of that race...a number of bad personal issues, the most traumatic of which was the sudden and unexpected death of her son.

In any event, there is no excuse for having helped an ultra liberal like Yarmuth get into power. He’s probably even more liberal than Mike Ward was.

Sorry to misspell Anne Northup’s name... I always seem to have had a problem with that.

But, I stand by the rest of my comments.

She deserted George Bush on the Iraq war... only weeks after W was here, raising money for her. I saw them, on the stage together... shaking hands, smiling... all’s good when money is coming her way. Literally weeks later, she’s throwing W under the bus just at a time when he needed her support. Sorry... but, I never forgave her for that. May have been a calculated decision on her part.. Might even have been “politically expedient”... but, it was disloyal.

I know about Anne’s personal tradgedy in 2006. It was very sad. That doesn’t change the fact that her campaign was poorly run. Virtually ALL of her ads were negative, and featured sound clips of Yarmuth saying silly things. Yarmuth was NOT well known... before Anne kept putting his name out there. That was, an error... IMHO.

Anne’s an honorable person.. a nice lady. I’ve met her twice. She’s doing great work on the Consumer Protection Commission (or, whatever it’s called)... but, in 2006, she ran a poor campaign. In 2008, she was a poor candidate. Already defeated, TWICE, in the previous two years... We needed someone with more appeal.
