Funding for road improvements creates jobs statewide
Reno, NV- Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Nevada with more than $8 million in grants for highway improvements and construction. The funding goes to projects that will make Nevada highways safer and create additional jobs in road construction and maintenance. The Pyramid Highway Corridor will receive $1.1 million; a portion of US 50 in Douglas County will receive $1 million for realignment; $2.2 million will go to widen SR 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump; $500,000 will go to improvements for the State Traffic Safety Information System and $3.3 million will go toward the Southern Nevada Beltway Airport Connector interchange project.
I thank Secretary LaHood for making these funds available for projects that will put Nevadans back to work and make important improvements to Nevada roadways, said Reid. By investing in these projects we ensure the safety and longevity of Nevadas roadways while providing a boost to our economy and workforce.
We can always rely on Harry to bring home the pork when it counts. What a greasy pig!
jeez, must be an election coming with buyoffs coming down the wire.
So, you get an overpass outside of Elko, eh?
Jobs for big machines. It does not take many people to build roads nowdays.
$8 million is pocket change when it comes to highway construction. Maybe a bridge or cloverleaf. Harrys Mom must have cut off his allowance.
Seriously, $8 measly million?
A very small town near me got sidewalks on main st and a few saplings and that cost $1 million!
Only Hispanics need apply. Please bring your voter registration card!
Reid Announces $8 Million For Union Cronies..
Fixed it for you.
Washington State Senator Patty Murray kicks reids butt, she really knows how to spend our tax dollars to secure union votes.
$8 million??? About the cost of a long driveway and a manhole cover in some locales.
Another bribe to vote democrat: Where do all these democrats come from in Nevada? Nevada used to be a conservative state.
8 million is nothing. What is a new cat worth? New excavator? New motor grader? Motorscraper? Compactor? Some manpower? Gradesment? Ashphalt? Ashphalt laers and compactors?
Sh!t!! 8 million is what 80 feet after startup?
Actually they just gave us a roundabout that no one wanted!
You mean “Milk More” Murray?
Las Vegas and Reno. The rest of the state suffers.
Pinko Harry trying to buy my vote with my own money, AGAIN.
Won’t work this time either, and at only 8 Million it’s not even a sincere effort.
Our “Most Powerful Senator” gets us something like 15¢ or less back on each federal tax dollar.
With most of that going to support eco-nut causes.
$8 million may get a couple of miles or so of roadway built.. A million dollars just doesn’t go far these days.
