McCollum Gains Big: 12 Points Ahead of Scott

By Jim Meyers

Bill McCollum has opened a 12 percentage-point lead over Rick Scott in his campaign for the Republican nomination for governor in Florida, according to a new poll released by the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

The poll of likely Republican primary voters shows McCollum with 45 percent of the vote, Scott with 33 percent, and roughly 20 percent undecided.

Attorney General McCollum has a comfortable lead over businessman Scott among moderates, 48 percent to 27 percent, as well as conservatives — 43 percent to 36 percent, according to the polling firm, McLaughlin & Associates. He also has a huge lead over Scott among Hispanic voters, 52 percent to 21 percent.

A Mason-Dixon poll released last week showed McCollum leading Scott by four percentage points, as did a survey by the Florida Medical Association.

McCollum’s comeback has amazed political observers and McCollum critics and supporters alike. Some earlier surveys had him trailing Scott by double digits, and as recently as Aug. 4, a Mason-Dixon poll showed Scott leading McCollum by 37 percent to 31 percent.

Voters evidently are becoming increasing concerned about Scott’s highly questionable business dealings and his refusal to release a deposition he gave in regard to a lawsuit alleging fraudulent practices at a healthcare company he now heads.

The new allegations likely remind voters of fraudulent practices uncovered at Scott’s former company, Columbia/HCA, the nation’s largest hospital chain.

What these two have done is to ensure that Sink is elected.

I’m not sure that that wasn’t the plan all along.

I read that McC was against something in the early version of the AZ law then when they amended it, he was happy with it. We’re voting for him.

I've read erverything I could find about both candidates & my decision is to go with McCollum. Scott is being touted as an outsider & a business man. So far, he's had some big problems running his own businesses. I don't trust him to govern Florida any better.

Scott is bombarding our area with very pricey, slick literature about himself. Today, he left a very long plea for my vote on my answering machine.

He's got lots of money that he walked away with when he left as the company's CEO. He is using it to buy the governorship of Florida.

I agree. In the beginning I was leaning toward Scott. However, I will now be voting for McCollum.
I am afraid of some Scott scandal coming out and handing the governorship to the Dems.

the ‘outsider’ candidate crook

The MSM would open up all his skeletons if he runs against a Democrat.

This is the first poll that has McCollum in the lead...when every other poll has Scott in the lead

McCollum is pro-Illegal Alien, does not support the AZ SB 1070...he went John Kerry on it now. And, he is not going to beat Sink...not with Jeb Bush endorsing him

Scott is the better candidate, and is the conservative. Granted he has the issue of HCA getting zapped by the feds...but it will not hurt him against uber liberal Sink

Any poll done by Chamber of Commerce is questionable. Chamber of Commerce supports Illegal Alien Amnesty...and McCollum is pro-illegal...regardless of where he stands now.

National security begins at home. A vote for McCollum is a vote for an Open Borders liberal

He’s started out great but has become a first class RINO. The areas I specifically remember are he likes to spend, like McCain he has become a very recent convert to stopping illegal immigration, and he voted for the Brady Bill. There are other two faced actions that I can’t yet recall, but I do know never to trust him because he is now a full waffle RINO.

Here’s the deal in Florida:

A possible crook running against an actual RINO. You can take your pick, but I don’t vote for RINOs.

He was a pretty good congressman but he always looked too much like an assistant branch manager.

How bizarre that this guy, Scott, just showed up in Florida months before he decided to run.

Folks do not vote for this Rick Scott.

Here is Scott's latest lawsuit
Rick Scott health care company accused of overbilling Medicare and - charges made by former Solantic doctors that their names and licenses were used without their consent.

Read for yourselves and get the facts on Scott's healthcare corruption. His company was fined $1.7 billion dollars for medicare fraud.

WHO ARE YOU RICK SCOTT????

Scott's campaign claims that he is pro-life. As one freeper points out, Scott's company profits from performing abortions...

Here is Scott's latest lawsuit, this lawsuit will cost him the race

Mystery deposition puts Rick Scott on the defensive

Rick Scott faces new Medicare fraud accusations

A google search of "rick scott medicare fraud" will show what a crook this guy is.

The liberals want to run against Scott. He will lose, either in the primary or the general.

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking. I’m going back to the McCollum side. Scott’s background makes me nervous. I only hope McCollum can “sink” Sink in November.

I would really curious to know how many health care companies are accused of overbilling Medicare. FWIW I have NEVER had a hospital bill that did not include things that I didn’t get or were not done. I can’t imagine Medicare patients’ bills are any different.

If you run for the highest office in a State, you can’t hide behind a “Private Matter” no matter how good a business man you are. Likewise what we now have been experienced for about 20 grueling months from an illegal alien and certainly an usurper who by help of the greatest political scam in the nation’s history is taking it into Sharia Law!!!

Not many options. The RINO GOP stinks. It takes lots of money to break through. I am not sure Scott is the one but MCCollum was against AZ. McCollum’s AZ law for FL will die after the primary.
