Breaking: Blago Holdout Retired State Employee (a community organizer)

Here's what Fox local news in Chicago reports:

Jurors who have been interviewed so far will not identify the juror, other than to say the juror was a female.

FOX Chicago News reported that speculation is centering on juror Jo Ann Chiakulas of Willowbrook, after a second-hand acquaintance said that she has been saying for weeks that she would find Blagojevich not guilty.

Chiakulas is a retired director from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Contacted Tuesday night, she told FOX Chicago News she would call on Wednesday if she wished to talk about the case.

On one count at least, Chiakulas voted with her fellow jurors, agreeing to convict Blagojevich of lying to federal agents.

Juror # 106, a black female believed to be in her 60s, is a retired state public health director who has ties to the Chicago Urban League. She has handed out campaign literature for a relative who ran for public office. She listens to National Public Radio and liberal talk radio shows.

ACE:

As my source says:

"The just departing President and CEO of Chicago Urban League is Cheryl Jackson, who was Blagojevich's first communications director in the Governor's office before coming to Urban League. She recently lost to Alexi Giannoulias in the Dem primary for U.S. Senate in a three-way race."

I don't think that there's some direct thing going on here -- but this is obviously a woman steeped in dirty Chicago machine politics. And she knows who gets hurt and who gets helped based on her corrupt verdict.

What. Was. She. Doing. In. The. Jury. Pool.

No one thought they would find 12 honest jurors in Chicago, did they?

It it hadn’t been her, it would have been someone else. Jury tampering is a fine art in Chicago. Someone would have geeked.

I really hadn’t expected anything different from the start.

Seems like the Lord knew how to deal with Sodom and Gomorrah when there weren’t 10 righteous folks to be found there.

Blago needs to write a tell-all book, “Everything I Know About Barack Hussein Obama,” and then spend his millions on security.

Interesting family.. not too many Chiakulas in the Chicago area but the ones I can find all have ‘colorful’ histories.

Illinois Appellate Court Reports
PEOPLE v. CHIAKULAS, 301 Ill. App.3d 914 (1998)
No. 1-97-4195
Opinion filed December 2, 1998. Order affirmed.

In April 1987, defendant, Charles Chiakulas, was found not guilty of aggravated battery (720 ILCS 5/12-4 (West 1992)), and attempted murder (720 ILCS 5/8-4, 9-1 (West 1992)), by reason of insanity and ordered to the custody of the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (now the Department of Human Services) (Department). In May 1996, defendant filed a motion for review of a treatment plan dated April 1996 which was filed by the director of the Elgin Mental Health Center, the Department institution where defendant was then committed. The circuit court denied the motion, and defendant appealed. In May 1997, this court reversed the circuit court’s order and remanded with directions that the circuit court review defendant’s treatment plan and make a pronouncement to that effect. People v. Chiakulas, 288 Ill. App.3d 248, 254-55, 681 N.E.2d 35, 39 (1997) (Chiakulas I).

Illinois Appellate Court Reports
PEOPLE v. CHIAKULAS, 288 Ill. App.3d 248 (1997)
No. 1-96-2169
Opinion filed May 1, 1997.

This is an appeal by defendant, Charles Chiakulas, who has been confined at the Elgin Mental Health Center (Elgin) of the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (Department) since being found not guilty of aggravated battery (720 ILCS 5/12-4 (West 1992)) and attempted murder (720 ILCS 5/8-4, 9-1 (West 1992)) by reason of insanity (NGRI). After the trial court denied defendant’s motion to review his treatment plan, he appealed. He asserts that the trial court denied him statutorily guaranteed treatment when it refused to review his treatment plan or to order an independent psychiatric examination. For the following reasons, we reverse and remand.

Jury tampering is a fine art in Chicago.

Technically, the jury wasn't tampered, as there was no reason to tamper ... she was on Blago side before the trial...

FOX Chicago News reported that speculation is centering on juror Jo Ann Chiakulas of Willowbrook, after a second-hand acquaintance said that she has been saying for weeks that she would find Blagojevich not guilty.

The fix was in BEFORE the start of the trial....Fitzgerald is just a real moron, government attorneys, LMAO, if he was any good at law he would be in private practice ....

Department of Public Health Director John Lumpkin named Jo Ann Chiakulas of Chicago as the first special assistant for minority affairs, effective September 16. Chiakulas is charged with setting up and supervising the department’s new Chicago-based Center for Minority Health Services. Created by H.B. 1216 (PA. 87-633), the center will evaluate the health needs of minorities in Illinois, provide training and technical assistance and improve coordination and communication with minority groups. According to the department, minorities are at greater risk for AIDs, infant mortality, lead poisoning, heart disease, stroke, homicide and high-risk behaviors such as smoking and alcohol use.

Chiakulas was director of the Chicago Urban League’s Young Parents Center for over 10 years and was coordinator for the state’s Parents Too Soon program. She has also worked with the Chicago Department of Mental Health and the Belden Manor Shelter Care Home in Chicago.

Needs to be repeated:
What Was She Doing In The Jury Pool?
It sure wasn't the "Pat-on-the" Backstrokes? She could be in trouble if there was a question on the questionnaire asking if there was any other reason that she should NOT serve?

I heard an interview with one of the jurors, a very articulate 21 year old college student, who said she was adamant that there had been no crime committed from Day 1. I think it is over-reaching to say someone influenced her, rather I think she went in with prejudice and was determined to not find him guilty on the more serious charges.

They actually had agreed to Guilty on another charge, but she ended up backtracking and taking two others with her.

This woman’s life is about to become hell. Whether she deserves it or not.
