Kelly surges despite Palin road bump
Politico ^ | 21 August 2010 | JONATHAN ALLEN & KASIE HUNT

TUCSON, Ariz. — No one will ever accuse Jesse Kelly of bringing weak tea to the party.

The conservative 29-year-old Marine combat veteran and tea party favorite made waves this week when a video of him criticizing Sarah Palin's endorsements of "people who will sell our principles down the river" surfaced and caused a stir.

The brief moment of national notoriety notwithstanding, Kelly is surging at the end of the 8th District GOP primary campaign here, largely on the strength of an impressive grassroots organization and a cocky, free-wheeling style that contrasts sharply with that of the more measured, more disciplined former state Sen. Jonathan Paton...........

"Believe me, if my goal was to get on the Armed Services Committee, or Ways and Means or any of these other great committees you need to be on, then we'd be in a lot of trouble," he said. "My goal is to have my country back and to have a government that leaves me the hell alone and I don't want anything else. And I'm not there for the next cocktail party, and I'm not there to make a bunch of friends. I'm not there to go along with liberalism. I'm there to fight liberalism. That's what I'm going there to do."

Kelly have anything to say about Duncan Hunter supporting Meg Whitman? Or does he only critique women who endorse folks he doesn’t particularly cotton to?

Another case of speaking before thinking. Fairly common.

Agreed.

And I think “we” all ought to think twice before attacking our own. Isnt’ that what Democrats and Libs are for?

Jesse's Opponet in the Primay RINO Paton-who Giffords once dated-was aggressively recruited by GOP establishment leaders in Washington....

In most years, the party machinery would work to dispatch a candidate like Kelly. But such interventions have backfired time and again this year in an election cycle marked by deep anti-establishment hostility.

Paton's patina of establishment backing — in just the last week, he's gotten money from Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) PAC, the House Conservatives Fund and Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) — hasn't stopped Kelly from claiming momentum.

There's data to back it up: Kelly outpaced Paton's fundraising total for the pre-primary period, collecting $79,000 between July 1 and August 4, compared with Paton's $46,500.

The above is even more reason to VOTE KELLY!

If things go well this election, there will be a lot of young, new faces in Congress...on the conservative side. That will be a good thing in more ways than one.

The Ron Paul people seem to hate this guy because he is for a strong national defense so that makes him ever better.

Wow. Way to go Jesse, and in my district no less.

Gabrielle Giffords is a loathesome queen bee commie. She is running ads with some prune faced “Republican” saying she is “trying.” Last time she stood in front of a cactus in skin tight blue jeans.

Gabby represents bald headed geezers with pony tails and women with blocks of square white hair on their heads, some of the biggest idiots anywhere. Hopefully we can chase the little commie back to the moon or wherever her astronaut husband resides.
