Evangelicals and the Coulter affair
World Net Daily ^ | August 23, 2010 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 08/23/2010 4:54:09 PM PDT by Sola Veritas

.................I believe that's what Jesus meant when He told us to love our enemies. The ultimate demonstration of love for a Christian should be to evangelize the lost.

There is no indication Ann Coulter has ever used one of her paid speaking engagements to do this. In fact, I'm not even sure a paid speaking engagement is an appropriate forum for evangelizing.

Nevertheless, I have heard from a few Christians who compare Coulter's paid speaking gig to Homocon with Jesus sitting down with tax collectors and sinners.

That is not good discernment.

Coulter is a political activist, a pundit, a satirist. She is not Jesus. And she is not an evangelist. No one is likely to get saved at Homocon because Ann Coulter gives a conservative stump speech.

What will happen as a result of her appearance is that a compromise will be made with sin. Sin will be condoned or appeased. A conservative icon will find accommodation with a sin that would undermine the foundations of Western civilization, the Judeo-Christian ethic and the most basic biblical standards of sexual morality.

I’d say the main difference between FR now, and FR when I signed up (2002) is that there are tons of homosexual agenda promoters - used to just be a couple here and there, who would eventually (or quickly, depending...) get banned. Also there are tons of leftists 0thugga hirelings. So I’d say, yes, there is some difference.

I think the general anxiety level is way up all over, since the leftists are busily destroying every vestige of what has made this country good.

In my years here I’ve learned to have a thicker skin, and sort of “read between the lines” to get peoples’ motivation and intent behind the typed word. Sometimes you can’t, but a lot of times you can, especially if you’re familiar with that particular person.

I have repeatedly said that if she criticizes the GOProud’s legislative agenda which is “All Gay - All the Way” except for the nod to the 2nd Amendment, I will be the first to be happily surprised and give credit where credit is due.

But her words and actions up to this point, the “Judy Garland of the Right” crap and the stated “All Gay - All the Way” agenda of the GOProud group would give any rational person doubts about what her purpose is in speaking.

FR became a target when it started being successful against Liberals and commies. The trolls can make it difficult around here. Throw in “our own nuts” and, Oh Boy!

You’re gloating about Michelangelo Signorile’s interview with Farah is pretty disgusting.
Perhaps.
And, if you mistook my "blasting" Farah's inconsistency as "gloating" -- I'm sorry.
But, **I'm** "pretty disgusted" at the way members of this forum have been attacking someone who has been one of the most effective voices on our side for a LONG time -- without giving HER any "benefit of the doubt."

[It was the Log Cabin reference I am not, or was not at that moment, familiar with.]

You'd been on FR for 7 years and didn't know what Log Cabin Republicans were/are?

Either you're not as well informed on conservativism as you pretend to be - or - you DO know what the Log Cabin agenda is about, but pretend otherwise.

Either way what you're proping up is a facade.

No Sale.

You may be right, but I am not sure. Right now there is a neandertal on this thread stating that I am a member of this "homosexual agenda." Have I defended anything like that on this thread, or any other? No. I have argued very strongly against homosexual marriage on a number of threads, and have argued on religious threads about the evils of homosexuality and sodomy. How many of these "tons" of promoters are people like me who are being called it just because I didn't use the right code words or something?

I think the general anxiety level is way up all over, since the leftists are busily destroying every vestige of what has made this country good.

That makes sense, and I can see it. But, it doesn't help if we turn that anxiety on our own and attack other conservatives for no reason at all. It never helps defeat the enemy to make the people in your own army targets too.

In my years here I’ve learned to have a thicker skin, and sort of “read between the lines” to get peoples’ motivation and intent behind the typed word. Sometimes you can’t, but a lot of times you can, especially if you’re familiar with that particular person.

I know what you mean, and generally I really don't get too worked up. But, this thing of telling super personal lies, calling me a queer for instance, really does bug the crap out of me. But, it happens that I just got off a thread with a poster using the same exact technique, i.e. if the post is more than five words assume it is a disagreement and make up things about the other person. After listening to that crap and then immediately getting it here just really pissed me off.

Really? I haven't noticed a large contingent of homosexual agenda promoters on FR. Can you provide examples or do you just assume that those who don't condemn Ann for making a speech at this conference must also support the homosexual agenda?

That’s what I do. My mental “ignore” button. My eyes recognize a name of someone who just aggravates and antogonizes, and I skip over their comments. I’ve gotten very practiced at it. Really saves my temper and equanimity.

When I signed up in 2002, my main purpose was to read news and commentary, and fight the homosexual agenda. I was very sick at the time, for several years, and spent a lot of time on FR. Did about 20,000 comments my first year, then I had to get another screen name. After a while I helped and then took over the Homosexual Agenda ping list.

Since then, I’ve either done the ping list myself, or mostly run it with other freepers. So I read tons of articles and threads on FR about this topic.

In the past, there would be a small handful of “gay” trolls who would generally, after a while, get banned.

Now there are many many “gay” rights supporters - some recent signups, some not. So yes, I think I have the overview to be able to say correctly that there are many more homosexual agenda supporters than several years ago.

I don’t really want to provide examples because that means posting a list of FR members and then I’d have to ping them all. But I have a list of about 40 who have been posting in favor of “gay” rights just since Prop 8 was overturned by the homosexual judge. Luckily since, over-overturned. There are more who have been banned, about 8 altogether just since then.

Actually Jelly there has been a rash of them just since Prop 8 ruling. There was another one zotted yesterday. I have lost count but have been on threads with about 1 zot a day. Some of them were not noobs.

If you can’t handle people on FR criticizing Coulter or having doubts about what she’s going to say to the GOProud militant homosexual group, or her apparently comfort with being their “pet”, maybe you should restrict yourself to posting on an Ann Coulter fanclub website, then. Because people are going to keep having grave doubts about her socially conservative views.

If she slams the GOProud’s agenda I will personally apologize to you and to her. If she doesn’t, then I and many others here’s doubts will have been proven spot on.

Why would Farah chose to criticize her and drop her from his event, when he has no idea what she’ll say in her speech? She’s not allowed to attend without drawing his condemnation? I’m not gettin’ it.

So, we're talking about a very tiny minority versus "tons." From your previous post I had the impression we had been overrun.

Not all of them have been zotted. Some back down when it’s made known that the Boss will ZOT them.

Liberty comes from God - Fatal Liberality comes from Useful Idiots who facilitate it.

Evidently I'm not the only one you've left with the impression of the latter rather than the former.

I conclude you're a patronizing, disingenuous Ivory Tower blowhard who's more in love with the sound of his own voice than the Truth.

Quack, waddle -
"Cynical, ego-centric people who can look into your eyes with angelic expression and tell you a lie.  This are the most recruitable people; people who lack moral principals - who are either too greedy or too, uh, suffer from self-importance, uh, they feel that they matter a lot.  Uh, these are the people who KGB wanted very much to recruit...."

Don't forget to pack some wool socks.   No global warming in Siberia.  Brrrrrr.

That still doesn’t translate into “tons.” I don’t consider new signups whose only purpose is to argue for homosexual rights as authentic FReepers. I’d say the vast majority of FReeprs are opposed to the homosexual agenda.

I think “tons” describes the shock of a 2003 signup pushing the agenda. There are usually 3 on a thread. One gets the zot and the other 2 go silent. The next thread will have 3 different posters but same scenario. I don’t expect ANY on FR but they’re here.
