Love Stevie Ray and Jimmy.

There used to be a video of them both playing the same double necked guitar that was awesome

Loved SRV. Thanks for posting this tribute.

Here's my favorite:

Don’t know if you’ve seen this, “Blues before Sunrise” with Angela Strehli and Kim Wilson playing the “Big Harp” Live in Austin TX 1983;

I attended his last concert @ Alpine Valley. His last song was “Sweet Home Chicago” with Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, his brother Jimmy, and Buddy Guy.

I still miss him and the musical places he was about to take us.

I saw Stevie Ray live at Plattsburgh State back in the day. I was blown away by his performance. Thanks for the memories.

Gave great live shows, some of my favorites ever. Sadly undervalued by many younger musicians today, who often go for the rapid-picking flash over musicality.

Hard to believe it has been 20 years.

I listened to his last show (8/26/90) all day yesterday in his honor.

Sad to think of all the great musicians who have died after climbing into light aircraft.

I'm a huge SRV fan and was devastated when he was killed in the air crash.

He seemed to be able to play any style of guitar. Although he specialized in Blues and R&B, he was great at everything. My question is where are the young SRV's? It been nearly 20 years since his death and I can't think of any young guys who can string his guitar. All the great players seem to be over 60 (Clapton, Beck, Gilmore, Knopfler, and many others). Why so few young great guitarists?

One of the reasons is that back when studio time was at a premium, and studio gimmicks were not nearly what they are now, it took high-quality musicians.

Now it doesn’t take nearly as much talent, as the studio and computers can cover up everything.

Man I am so, so dumb. I had no idea SRV died. I just bought one of his CDs when I was working in Syracuse, NY in April 2010.

How did he die, if I may inquire?

PS: I’m an oldster I guess.
