ABC: Men arrested at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport were preparing terrorist attack

Monday, August 30th, 2010 at 9:23 pm | Monica Lawrence | By Monica Lawrence

AMSTERDAM (BNO NEWS) -- Two men were arrested aboard a United Airlines flight after landing at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Monday, ABC News reported.

The network, citing Dutch public prosecutor Ernst Koelman, said the men were arrested at the request of American authorities after the flight landed in Amsterdam. ABC said the men were subsequently charged with "preparation of a terrorist attack."

The two were allowed to board the flight at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago on Sunday night despite security concerns surrounding one of them, officials told ABC News, which identified the men as Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al Soofi, of Detroit, MI, and Hezam al Murisi.

Humans are dangerous...not because we have weapons, but because we think in a certain way.

It boggles the mind to think we have entrusted our nation's air security to people who think that because they confiscated the box cutters and knives of these two, and found no explosives, there's no risk.

And even if...IF...the presence or absence of weapons somehow defined safety, there was no way in hell TSA could determine that these two men were the only threat aboard. If history tells us anything, it's that Islamic terrorists run in packs, even for their dry runs and probes. An innocent item, combined with other innocent items once aboard...

Bureaucrats chose to risk the lives of a planeload of people rather than risk a reprimand in their personnel files. That is not just distasteful, it's despicable.

Yes, I am saving money. I love to travel. Now I don't have to rent a car, hotel room, or Airfare. Just gas and Camp fees.

They make travel trailers less than 2,500 lbs, less than 20 feet, with all the options. So I burn 25% more fuel when towing. Not a big deal.

After the Christmas day bombing attempt in Detroit I started looking for a better way. I found it. With a Muslim president, ineffective Security, added cost of security driving up the price of tickets and wasted time in lines, parking fees of 100 plus dollars, air travel had become a personal insult.

I now do ocean front, on the beach vacations for 25 bucks a night, from Florida to Maine.

The trailer is well on its way to paying itself off in its first season, and I get to give the finger to TSA and Imam Obama. A win, win, win. No more lines, no more “Rashad” or “Mohamed” frisking me while “Achmed” goes through with a bomb.

I wonder, would they allow these two to fly with Michele and Sasha to Spain or Marthas Vineyard?

Hell no.

But us?

Yes.

bulky clothing . . . . its August in Alabama

watches, cell phones,[with a lithium battery] taped to a liquid -

muslim men aged 15-45

These Muslims need to change their name to John Smith and see if they get caught cause we all know with TSA two out of three is not profiling.

Among the items found in Ahmed Al Soofi's luggage were cellphones and taped bottles. CBS

The ACLU Sues to Prohibit “Targeted Killing” of Foreign and U.S.-Born Terrorists
The ACLU and CCR team up ... to hinder the war effort.
BY Adam J. White
August 31, 2010 5:56 AM

Legal activist groups filed an extraordinary lawsuit yesterday to prevent the U.S. military and CIA from undertaking the “targeted killing” of persons suspected of posing a terrorist threat to the U.S. The filers are asking the court to block not merely the targeted killing of U.S. citizens overseas—the subject of much press coverage of the suit—but of all foreign terrorists, as well.

I don’t see how they could have let them through with the “large knives”

The "large knives" were in the guy's CHECKED LUGGAGE, which is the same place you put your small blade knife if you want it to arrive at your destination.

"found a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle, three cell phones taped together, several watches taped together, a box cutter and three large knives.

This is very easy to explain. The guy is a cutlery salesman on his way to a home and garden show. Part of his sales pitch is to demonstrate how his Ginsu knife can cut through three cell phones taped together, cut the tape to separate your cell phone from your Pepto-Bismol bottle, and then still slice a tomato into paper-thin slices. Afterwards you can even use it as a watch repair tool. The box cutter was obviously just to cut the shrink-wrap plastic packaging of the knives. It was all just a big misunderstanding.

My husband was flying back from a business trip when I heard about this. Not this flight, but it just reminded me why I hate anyone to fly.

They might have boarded the flight, but the individual seated next to them, or immediately behind them, was an air Marshall.

Right. Which reminds me, if you are flying and your seat assignment suddenly changes, you have a possible problem on board.

“The system worked”.

Yup. I'm sure they can provide all the paperwork complete with check marks in the appropriate boxes. Case closed, everyone gets a bonus.
