President Barack Obama called former President George W. Bush Tuesday hours before he was set to deliver an Oval Office speech on the drawdown of U.S. troops from Iraq, the White House said.

Obama made the call aboard Air Force One on his way to Ft. Bliss, Tex., where he will visit U.S. troops.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton said the “private” call lasted “a few minutes,” but declined to give further detail.

Obama telephoned Bush in February 2009 before announcing his plans for withdrawing troops from Iraq.

How can you POSSIBLY love Ronald Reagan, as I do, and support that liberal clan of Yankee hucksters from New England - the Bushes??? Bush I betrayed the Reagan Revolution. Bush II set the stage for a Marxist Muslim in the White House.

Total unmitigated horsesh#t! You like to impugn the intelligence of others, but you'd be well advised to look to your own lack of it. You and your kind don't "love" Ronald Reagan. You love some plaster caricature of him. The real man would NEVER agree with you. Not in a million years. The real man wouldn't recognize the plaster caricature you and your ilk have made of him.

Above all, Ronald Reagan was a kind man filled with good humor. You and your ilk are sour, bitter people who are unable to comprehend even the most simple concepts, such as: don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Chew on that one for awhile. Maybe a light bulb will go off in that dim brain of yours.

FYI..while speaking to the troops today, Obama said..” for as long as I am President..”

Missed it. In what context was it used?

He was talking about their service, their sacrifice...the said ( paraphrasing, but pretty sure I have it right) "as long as I am president, I'll never forget your sacrifice..."

So does that mean that as soon as he's NOT in the WH, he'll forget it?

I was a terrible speech..inarticulate, garbled...of course, there was no TPOTUS...and got, at best, tepid applause at the end..

Very interesting.

And somewhat disappointing that Petraeus would cave in to Barry, if true. Worse yet that he would swear loyalty to the Evil One.

Maybe he felt he had to do it for the greater good - in other words, in order to get the troops they needed in Afghanistan.

I think well of Petraeus and hope that this is just more media BS.

Probably calling to ask Bush II for advice on the speech, and knowing that dimwit Bush II, he probably would give it to him.

A Meeting of the Mind(less).

That was needless.

First you insult me by insinuating I ma a “Democrat Troll”.

Then you ask me to be reasonable stating Bush II was the most “genuinely conservative” President in our lifetime.

PLEASE.

We have been through all this before.

Bush and his “compassionate” conservativism is the reason the GOP lost control of Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008.

I am old enough to remember Ronald Reagan, who was FAR more of a conservative than any Bush could ever be. FURTHER, his legacy was a Republican victory after he completed his Second Term of office in the election of Bush I. Bush I’s shortcomings put Carter in the White House.

It took his son two terms, but he achieved an even worse legacy with Obama.

Stupidity is doing the same thing over again and expecting similar results.

And if the GOP doesn’t LEARN from the errors of the Bush I and Bush II administration, any victory they might achieve in 2010 or even 2012 will be ephemeral.

Only by implementing a truly conservative political and fiscal agenda can success in the economy and in our foreign policies be achieved, and Democrat Marxist defeats be assured in the general elections.

The need of Bushbots like you to resort to scatological name-calling exposes you for the very kind of personalities that you falsely accuse genuine conservatives of being.

Perhaps you need to review Bush I and Bush II’s record.

But then, if you are a Bushbot and a RINO, I suppose that is an exercise in futility.

Referring to those who are grateful to Pres. Bush for his devotion to his #1 presidential duty of relentless pursuit of our safety after 9/11 (keeping your butt as well in one piece),

restoring honor and respect to the Oval Office after the scummy Clintons,

honoring and supporting our brave troops,

in addition to preserving the sanctity of life in all issues he could,

and tax cuts and pushing continually for reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,

and the important addition to SCOTUS of two conservatives

and MUCH MORE .. all in the last several years of his presidency with a vicious, divisive democratic-controlled Congress and a degenerate and biased press ...

as Bushbots

is psychiatrically and pathologically emblematic of

B .. D .. S !!!

“Will do a more full response later when I get home.”

I can’t wait.

Ad hominem arguments are so frutiful (sarcasm). And Bushbots are so good at them.

I refuse to watch Obama at any time. It would be interesting see how he treats Bush and the fact the former president is responsible for the success of the surge and thus the successful outcome Iraq war.

Do you hear much of the troops' thoughts on BHO?

Stay safe!
