CBS has no interest in profits. They are not a business enterprise — if they were, they would be seeking a new business model in an effort to turn their decline around. No, they are simply a propaganda outfit. Eventually, the government will subsidize them, so they aren’t overly concerned.

I find that I am always 12 hours to six days ahead of my spouse, who only listens to NPR and CNN.

I’m just getting into this book, a history of the big three networks in the mid to late 80s. At that time, the news divisions were big money-losers. I can’t imagine that they have since turned that around.
