Few enough recall Hillary
and Norkay, much less the second team to summit.
It is human nature to remember the first to achieve the difficult or previously thought impossible, by the second or third to do so, it has become passe, so it is normal for the general public to not recall subsequent accomplishments.

Only reason I know is because I am a climber.

I grew up reading National Geographic, before it was hijacked. In those days the emphasis was on exploration and not environmentalism, and the first summit of Everest was a big thing.
Such stories even inspired me to do some fairly minor rock climbing and a bit of spelunking, but I have made no major accomplishments in either realm--except enjoying doing what I was doing, of course.
