The universities of "the west" have been teaching for a century or more that the Bible is mythology. No wonder no one argues with these people. They agree with them!

Do you imagine any islamic studies departments are engaging in higher criticism of the koran?

Two years ago, Israeli professor Shlomo Sand argued, with meticulous scholarship in his earth-shattering book, 'The Invention of the Jewish People,' that the claim that the Jews of today are the ethnic offspring of the Biblical Jews is yet another Zionist myth,

Is this true? Is an Israeli scholar writing Arab propaganda?

He’s got some, uh, problems, check out the rest of this page. I included just the amusing sentence below. :’)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shlomo_Sand

“His main areas of teaching are nationalism, film as history and French intellectual history.”

What I took away from that article is that Shlomo is a communist academic who hates modern Israel as "racist" and wants to use his book to encourage Israel to become a multicultural paradise instead of the Jewish State. He pushes the discredited Khazar hypothesis still. Oh, and this book was written in a field he knows nothing about.

He's definitely and anti-Zionist so I figured he might be a one state solution guy. His book definitely supports their cause. He claims he favors a two-state solution now and eventual Isreali-Palestinian "confederation." Probably because in his heart he knows the one-state solution would be the end of Israel - and his cush job getting paid to hate Israel at an Israeli university.
