Well then it is hardly Stewarts fault. Stewart mearly plays to what is "cool" in popular culture. I would blame A)the families who dont educate their children and B) reliance on government indoctrination schools, C) Decline of the church in the USA. (I am Jewish myself and reformed Judaism sucks also)
Do you or did you tell your kids about the Stewart types and their agenda? I did. And they arent falling for it.
I’d guess the 7% figure might be those evangelicals who practice what they preach when it comes to culture and politics.
ACTUALLY, the term 'Theocracy' does not come from anything in the 'Noahide' tradition or its descendant religions, but from the Greeks. It means: government of a state by immediate divine (which meant many things to the Greeks) guidance or by officials who are regarded as divinely guided. From that a 'Theocrat' is one who rules, or lives under, a Theocracy.
You can imagine a term belongs to you and your own meaning of it, but it doesn't. The term is not different simply because different people and different religions have a different idea about the "true" source of the theocracy they espouse.
"What you fail to realize is that "religion" is not salvational; it is statutory. It's that simple."
When did I ever say or imply that "religion" is "salvation". I made no such opinion. But, apparently, you assume that if someone disagrees with anything you have to say that they would be in opposition to anything you say or believe. That's not surprising coming from a Theocrat.
There are seven basic laws for all non-Jewish people (you don't have to convert to Judaism if that's what's worrying you),
Again, when did I ever imply I was "worried" that you implied one had to "convert to Judaism"? Never. But, again you put up phantom arguments.
With the rest of your rant, you sound more and more like Don Quixote - flailing at phantoms, and creating phantom arguments between yourself and others. Good Luck with that.
I fail to understand why I seem to be provoking such fury from you.
The ways of G-d are right. They ways of men and idols are not.
I await the day when G-d will turn the clock back three thousand years, baby!
B'H
Nice to see coming back from Rosh Hashanah yet another Liberal Jew thread from those with delusional fixations with Jews.
Calm down! The article posted is a symposium in Commentary magazine and the contributors are all Jews. It really is well worth the read; the contributors have some very interesting things to say.
“I fail to understand why I seem to be provoking such fury from you.”
How simply correcting your hijacking of terms [”Theocrat”], from their ancient and textbook meaning to your self-appointed definition, and correcting your various incidents of putting words in my mouth stands as “provoking” “fury”, “G-d” only knows.
As seems to occur in a lot of your very voluminous posts [rants], you provide another occasion of “the pot calling the kettle black”.
While the word "theocracy" is certainly Greek, it means "rule by G-d." Is there a better word for the government of Biblical Israel?
If G-d exists, then the universe is already a Theocracy.
It is sometimes difficult to correctly communicate via textual messages only, since such things as vocal tone and facial expression are absent. I have noticed from time to time that something I post will provoke such a response as you have made while leaving me completely flummoxed as to why. In addition to the normal deficiencies of textual communication I am still suffering the aftereffects of a case of strep throat and severe sinus which I have had for a week. It is often very easy when feeling bad not to read carefully what others have written or to not express oneself adequately.
All I know for sure is this:
1)The thoughts of the members of the symposium linked at the top of this thread are very interesting and well worth the read.
2)I made what I thought were pertinent comments.
I don't even recall now just how you and I got into this argument are what we were initially arguing over. Is it because I am a "Theocrat" rather than a Jeffersonian? I am afraid that I cannot change my beliefs merely because you don't like them, and you will not change your beliefs either. So we can continue to post at each other or we can shake hands, say "have a nice day," and move on.
Through all this one thing, though, strikes me as an unnecessary provocation. How you spell the word "G-d" is of course up to you, but by putting my spelling in quotation marks you appear to be ridiculing me for a very common stringency among Jews and Noachides, and even among some chr*stians. You are obviously a very well-educated and intelligent person, and such a tactic, reminiscent of elementary school playground taunts, is beneath you. If you cannot share the world with people who spell the word "G-d" differently than yourself without at least implying some form of ridicule, then your character is not as great as your intelligence, and that would not be a very good thing.
Farewell.
And you didn’t know what meant?;
in so much as “Palestine” (Greek Palaistine, Latin Palestina, Hebrew Pelesheth, which are all taken from the ancient words for the people referred to as the Phillistines and meaning the land of the Phillistines)
was a term that commonly (in Greek and Roman times) referred to the entire area west of the Jordan river, and not just Judea).
And you are correct, that in the specific area of Roman occupation where Rabbi Chanina lived was, at that time, called the Province of Judea, and later after suppression of the Bar Kokhba revolt it was incorporated into the whole as “Syria Palestina” (and to remove the “Jewish” designation as well).
So forgive me, but I knew no one would misunderstand my point anyway.
